DISH Reaches Long Term Agreement with DISNEY / ESPN / ABC

Well I haven't looked at this thread for a while but still no ESPNU in HD and still no streaming rights so here we are nearly 5 months later and nothing.
Nothing would be a dispute with the channels removed. What we have is a continuation of the status quo. Not bad at all.

And beyond surprising. It's incredible virtually nothing has even leaked at least nothing reported with any credence. As many predicted, with no barbs from either side it most likely means an agreement will come.

It is not really incredible that neither side has leaked anything. It probably comes down to 5-10 people actually knowing the complete set of terms, with probably half of them being lawyers with dire consequences for leaking information.

I would agree except with the inordinate amount of time that has passed if things were not going well, I think something would have been leaked or one side or the other would have made a statement. The changes being made as described in the Rumors thread in the Pub sure makes it seem like an agreement is reached at least in principle.

If you have looked at other press releases and put 2 and 2 together the agreement is done they are just combing through to make sure there isn't a loophole on either side. Dish has ADS on ESPN again after years of not having them and then an ESPN announcement that Dish will carry the new SEC network at launch is 2 really good hints its a done deal.

That's great......but when are the consumers going to SEE SOME PROOF..............
as stated earlier, it has been approximately 5 months & still the talks go on. Basketball season will be over & still no ESPNU hd........yet in a few days we will be greeted with another price increase

Proof? Did you read this post that sums it up pretty well?

And if you were a pub member you see more indications.

That's when we will get our proof. The prices will hike up and then we will get "but look, you now have the Disney suite in HD."

I thought that at first, too, but the price increases are showing for some of us already on our latest statement (month ahead). Were Dish to market the Disney/ESPN deal coincident with that price increase, they should have been pimping the new HD feeds at the start of the year.

If the money is settled, I'm of a mind that there is a technical reason this has halted - room for all that new 24-hr HD, WatchESPN app issues with Hopper, etc. It would be nice if they could tell us something, anything. I realize we don't have a "right" to know the inner-workings of the business, but we are all pretty loyal customers who just got hit with a higher bill.

Throw us a bone, Dish.

Yep, it sounds like Auto Hop is gonna be a pay item, to us....

Yikes!!If Dish gives in to Disney on that demand watch out!!We thought $5 hikes this year and last year were bad,we ain't seen nothing yet.I am very surprised that Charlie would settle on autohop instead of fighting it the rest of the way.

I wonder if this means that Dish only pays extra if customers actually USE Autohop as opposed to just having it as an available feature. I still believe the actual percentage of subscribers who use the Authop feature is very very small.

And let me throw in that I think its crap for this to be an issue at all. The networks are free OTA with commercials. We then have to pay to get them on sat or cable with those SAME commercials. Now if you skip those commercials, you have to pay even more?

Take take take. Gimmie gimmie gimmie.

Maybe Disney does not get more money. It might be that dish starts running targeted banner ads to customers using autohop. (ie Hulu Plus) Could the hopper watch your internet traffic and start advertising to you by what you are looking at on the internet?

Who knows.... But I think it will not be money that dish is giving into.
