Dish Pricing Update

I do wonder how it will be stated on our bill. It is bad enough here on this forum but can you imagine what the reaction will be when they open their bill and see a $17 charge for a dvr??

Something tells me that Dish will "hide" that number 17 as best they can. If not , the call centers will explode!!

You can drive from the northern most point of LA County to southern most point and everything is build out, No rural areas either.
That is not true at all. Half of LA county includes the mountains and the deserts to the north, which has very little development. The mountains have virtually none at all, and outside of Landcaster/Palmdale, the deserts have very little to none.
If you have even been to Los Angeles then you know for example places like Azusa, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, West Hollywood, North Hollywood, Long Beach, San Pedro, Torrence, Pasadena, Inglewood, Glendale etc are in Los Angeles county but are incorporated cities. So they are cities which are all surrounded by City of Los Angeles, but have their own fire and police dept and schools etc and people who live in those cities are are not added to City of Los Angeles population numbers as they dont live official in the city of the Los Angeles.
You don't know what you are talking about.

San Pedro, North Hollywood, Hollywood are part of LA city.

I have AEP with One 722k and 4 additional 625/522 receivers. So my bill will go up by 7 dollars per extra receiver or $28 per month. That is no small price increase. So my bill will go up from 143.97 per month (AEP Multi-sport Pack, HD Add on) to 171.97.

In essence all Dish is doing to me is canceling my No DVR Fee for having AEP, so after February 1st I will in essence be, paying a DVR fee for each additional DVR, thanks so much.

My only recourse will be to drastically scale back my programing. So Long AEP. I will drop back to a Core Package and maybe pick one premium package, which will also cause me to lose a bunch of HD channels as well, thanks again Dish.

On second thought I might have to reconsider Cable by the end of Summer so I can get MSG-HD, IFC HD, and AMC HD along with several others, although I will have to lose a couple of HD channels, thanks again Dish.

Currently I'm on a 24 month upgrade commitment because of upgrading to a 722k, so I might have to buy out the last few remaining months of my commitment, thanks again Dish.

I do own my four additional DVR's so I a can sell them to pay the cancellation fees, and leave a little positive cash flow.

Now those of you under contract may see why I BUY my boxes. I am free to cancel at any time, and can sell the leftover boxes too:)

As a nation companies have found a way to lock customers, by giving them a little, low cost upgrade and tying them into a contract........

found that out with verizon:( they had crap service and held me to a contract:(

Honestly this must be a trial baloon, to see what our board thinks..........

E should one up all other providers, create better sticky subs and just make everyone with at least top 100 FREE DVRs

As I understand, this is a price increase for your hardware only. I have two leased DVR's. Yet to come, will there also be a price increase for the programming?

I'll probably follow Scott's lead and reduce my prime package from AEP to what it takes to lower, not raise my monthly expense. Since I have Blockbuster movie pass I discovered I don't have time to watch all those movie channels. I planned on Playboy being dropped next year anyway.

Figure he'd get the first box free.
As a new customer he should be able to.

At most for Two HRs he should be in the hook for $199 plus shipping, pretty much the same as a new custmer with Dish. Based on when I checked with Dish a week or so ago.

programming prices were to remain the same...........

I wasn't saying that programming prices were going up...only that we pay high prices for programming as-it-is already, and now they want more money for the hardware to watch the programming. That was my only point.

Pretty sure that if my hardware prices make my bill go up, I'll be dropping some programming to offset the hardware price increase.

It's stupid (beyond stupid!) to increase prices in this current economy...

That sucks. I guess I've not been a sub for 13 months.
You would probably be able to get new customer pricing I would imagine. Of course I am not totally sure what the time is between when you quit and when you would be a new sub again.
