Dish Price Lock

So those naysayers who keep predicting Dish’s demise can see that Dish plans to stick around for at least three years. I plan to stick with Dish and my two Hopper3 and Joey3 since they work well. Of course I don’t plan to get a Hopper+ with all of its problems. I think Dish is alienating new and existing customers by releasing a product that is not ready for use.
I fully agree! That is quite a commitment on Dish's part with such changing times!

Its no secret I haven't been a fan of the Hopper Plus, but the last few beta software releases have given me hope. I just don't know when this software is going to be released to the customers.

With that said my wife and I simulated cutting the cord and removed satellite from the main tv we use and tried just streaming. It was horrible. We both love the Hopper 3 so much and when the Plus is fully stable (and its getting close!) it will be a great addition to the Hopper 3 ecosystem. :)
I feel the same in the last update has helped and the system is working much better. NOT perfect but they are working on it!

  1. My switches have no concept of a "base device".
  2. I'm talking about 2 always-on devices on the switch: Joey and FireTV Stick. Even if I did have a "base device", I fail to see how that would help.
Me too.
  1. I worked around this problem by putting the Joey on my switch into 1 HDMI input, and the FIreTV Stick on the other. That obviously requires me to switch inputs on the TV when I want to watch the Stick.
I think the lesson we learn in this whole tale is to marry someone who understands how to use a HTS. :D

I used to have/need a switch, but now not any more since I moved, more rooms, so able to spread out stuff.

Living Room-just the Roku and 4K Blu Ray Player ( that I never seem to use), that is hooked up to the Pre-Pro which has 7 inputs , but only need 2, then hooked to the Sony TV.

Have a Tablo in there, but that is hooked to the router so all the rooms have a OTA DVR.

Game Room- XBox X, Switch and PS5 hooked to the TV direct, eArc to the Receiver.

This room is only used for Games, so no need for anything else.

Outdoor Patio Theater-Roku and Blu-Ray ( that I never seem to use) to the Pre-Pro then to Projector.

All the other Rooms have TCL Roku TVs, they will only get used when I have guests, so no need for any other equipment.

Today’s world, 3 HDMI inputs should be more then enough, unless multiple streaming devices or Game Systems, most TVs have 4, Pre-Pros/Receivers have 6.

The problem is eArc, takes away a input when hooked up to a soundbar/Receiver/Pre-Pro.
You must spent a lot of money for all that a/v stuff. My wife used to stroke out when I would buy a new DISH Receiver from dish depot and I used to trade in my old receivers for credit towards the new ones.

That is properly because you are a dude, I have seen many stories/posts here and elsewhere that women hate switching inputs.

My wife was no exception, her demands were 1 remote for everything and easy, then I could have a 85” TV, so the only option was the 7 Series Roku TV and thanks to eArc I was able to have a real sound system ( hate soundbars).

She figured out how to switch between apps, just not inputs.
When I pick up my roku remote..push a button..input changes...when I pick up my firetv remote..push a button..input changes...if I pick up my dvd remote..push a button..input changes...too bad my dish remote won't do the same thing

That is at least 3 remotes that would of been too much for her.

I can afford it.

We had to buy everything new when we moved, moving costs were incredibly high for going from Michigan to Florida, also during Covid in 2020, so they raised the rates.

I have Hopper3, Firestick Cube, and a Roku Ultra as well as a Smart TV and Smart BluRay player that has been unplugged for almost a year and nobody has noticed. The FireCube has better picture quality than the Roku, but I keep the Roku for some fringe Roku channels. A Hopper + us the last thing I need and would get, as for the price lick I still have 17 months left on my Dish contract, so I should be good until then. I too am a HUGE fan of the Hopper 3, compared to streaming.

DISH Fights Inflation Head-on with 3-Year TV Price Guarantee

A pay-TV industry first, DISH pledges bill stability and inflation relief with its 3-Year TV Price Guarantee
DISH ranked #1 in customer satisfaction nationally for 5 consecutive years by J.D. Power

"New Customers" only?
…So if I cancel my account (currently no contract ), send back my equipment and go to streaming only, how long until Dish considers me a new customer if I wanted to come back?

I am shocked that DISH isn't charging a monthly fee but then again it is their fees that encourage a lot of people like me to leave. That and the annual price increases since 2000. :(
I agree with you ...I think they should look at keeping the customers they still had by removing the stupid DVR fees and receiver fees..Could have saved a lot of subs and still generated income without the fees..They are not going to gain subs with the price lock..People are not interested in satellite tv anymore..its all about streaming and hopper plus isn't going to sell any subs since most people already have firestick or roku..That's old generation stuff..Whoever is in charge of advertising must be over 70yrs old..Charlie..you need to try to hold on to the customer base you still have left!!

Two months and you would be a new customer again.
I thought it would be longer, like 6 months. But this is good that it's only 2 months.

I quit Dish 3 months ago and paid a $210 E.T.F. I have tried streaming services but I miss the convenience of the Dish DVR. I could pause TV anytime and skip commercials without restriction.

I tried a month of YouTube TV and hated it, especially the interface. And everyone says you can skip commercials on recorded content. It did let me do that, sometimes. But other times it would not record a show as scheduled and I was stuck with only the 'on demand' version and forced ads.

I have had to watch so many ads in the past 3 months that it is tempting to go back to Dish.

I wish they offered an 'Undo' plan where you could restore your service AND get your E.T.F. and prior receiver (a Hopper Duo in my case) back.
