Dish non responsive to its customer wants

30+? Where are you getting 30+? Maybe if you have Multisport for 5.99... but 30? REALLY?

You are right it is not 30 it is 48

channels 140 141 142 143 144 145 146 147 148 149 152 151 150 400 401 404 405 407 429 430 139 440 441 442 443 444 445 446 447 448 449 450 451 452 453 454 455 456 457 458 459 459 460 461 462 463 464 465 466

48 sports channels that I am paying for how fair is that?

You're counting alternates too that can't even be seen in your viewing area (or mine)?

I bet there's more people interested in sports programming, by the way, than interested in LOGO.

You should voice your thoughts with ceo@echostar.com .

Yet you are quite happy that I should have to pay for sports programing that I have no intrest in and think sports and sports programing is just a waste. I don't think it is fair that I should have to pay for 30+sports channels.

What you seem to be ignoring is the fact that you don't "Have To" pay for anything....you choose to.

Don't like what is in the package? They why are you paying for it?

You knew what was part of the package before you subscribed to it.

They are still sports channels. How many sports channels are necessary? I really don't care how many sports channels they add. I just wish they would throw the non sports intrested customers a bone everynow and then.

They're not necessarily even channels, sometimes they're just pointers for channels they ALREADY carry, like RSNs!

They do throw the non-sports interest folks a 'bone'.. It's called the other 500 channels? :) I watch maybe 10-15 channels, but I pay for top 250 and Starz/HBO anyway. I don't gripe because of the other channels I probably don't give a crap about.

In all seriousness though -

If you're under contract, e-mail ceo@echostar.com and see if they'll break you out so you can go switch to DirecTV for Logo. If you aren't in contract, switch.

Alternatively, according to Wikipedia, content/shows from Logo are available on Joost - The new way of watching free, full-screen, high-quality TV on the internet via online streaming..

I am not ignoring anything. If I want some of the channels in the top 250 I have to pay for the whole top 250 I can't pick and choose. So I do have to pay for it.

And you knew this prior to subscribing. Is it 'fair' to subscribers? I don't think so. But what can I do. If I want the channels I want to watch, I have to deal with the rest of the stuff I don't.

In a perfect world we'd have a la carte type programming and you could pick/choose whatever you want.

Ugh!!!

I can't believe how much aggression this topic has created. I have watched these forums for quite a while now and I regularry see LOGO requested. Roughly ten percent of Dish subscribers are gay and should have access to some sort of programming catering to them. After all there's an endless number of channels provided for evey niche imaginable. How much shopping can one do in one day? or how about all of the different East West cost feeds for Nickelodeon, etc? Do we really need the same channel wih programming out of sync by two hours? It's convenient sometimes, but hardly a necessity. Also, how many womens channels can we possiblt handle??? Enough Oprah, American's Next Top Model and Roseane for a lifetime. I'm sure there could be a way to make sure that this market is served.

They did, they added several HD channels with great content and NO sports!

It can be said that those of us who watch mostly sports channels are susidizing the channels you want to watch. I am sure the margins in sports channels are more than general entertainment channels. Like was said earlier get the package that gives you the best bang for the buck or switch to another provider.

Who says you have to pay for it. You choose to have Dish Network. If a channel is that important to you, switch to a company that provides it. It's not that difficult.

For almost two years I have been requesting that LOGO be added to the line up. I keep getting the same response. Dish keeps adding all kinds of CRAP to the line up 3/4 of which I am paying for but do not watch.

3/4 of everything on Dish is CRAP to someone. Everyone is paying for many channels they do not watch.

I agree, but I also Sub to HBO, Max, SHO, South Asian and Setanta. Why? Because I wan't them, if 10% of Dish Customers are Gay as some claims, why did they not watch HERE? It had to be taken off as it wasn't been watched. If Dish thought that it was popular with its subs it would definetly add it either in a package or on an individual basis. I remember when people like me were begging for the to carry Fox Sports World (FSC) and Setanta, it took them a long time , even lost customers but due to the demand of their subs they were forced to add it.

The problem when Here! was available on E*, at least to me, was that it was a PPV station. I purchased a few of the movies from time to time, but, when you are schilling out $4 a pop for an episode of a series that other carriers were offering as a full fledges channel, it didn't seem logical. Now, would I have paid for it as a pay channel ala Sho, HBO, Setanta, etc? Sure.. gladly, but that wasn't an option. Would I subscribe to LOGO on a subscription basis? Sure... again, though, that's not even an option.

I think a lot of folks out there assume that these stations offer porn for the GBL community, which couldn't be further from the truth. What is offered on these channels is programming that features movies, original series, and specials with either gay characters and/or gay/gay friendly stars.

As I said in a previous post, though, a lot of these programs are now available on DVD, and until either of these networks are offered on E*, I'll just catch up with some of the programs that are of interest to me that way. Like many others have said, no one is forcing me (or anyone, for that matter) to stay with E*, it's a choice - and the features & benefits of the programming and equipment that we do have keep me as a customer.

That's just my 52 cents on the subject... not that anyone asked. Now... how about some more HD?! :hungry:

That's because most "straight" people think that all gay do is only watch porn and are horning it up all the time, which is as much of a stupid stereotype as saying that all blacks eat fried chicken and watermelon for every meal (despite what Bill O'Really probably thinks).
It's fine for blacks (BET), women (Lifetime), men (Spike), kids (Disney), pets (Animal Planet), aliens (Sci-Fi), Hispanics (There's at least three), Chefs (Food Network), Techies (G4), Christians (TBN, EWTN, Angel, Daystar)... to have their own channels. All the gays are saying is that there is a channel out there (that is no less racy than Spike BTW) that they would like as well.

Isn't it ironic that a person wanting LOGO doesn't care about sports?

I care about both. Y'all have got to stop assuming everyone is like 'us'. We're not all the same. I switched to E* cause Time Warner Austin didn't/wouldn't carry ESPN2. I also would be very interested in Logo.

I don't think we really want to travel down this road, because you're talking 10% of the population and then an even smaller portion that have Dish.

For instance, all of the gay people I know have cable... If the stats ring true, that means of that 10%, 0 have Dish. I'm sure someone could be gay, have Dish, and want those channels. But for whatever reason Dish has done the numbers and determined that there's not enough to justify it.

I do watch G4 sometimes as well as IFC (IFC shows Clerks, amongst other things). LMN was probably 'part of the deal' for carrying Lifetime, which my sister and mother watch.

Jewelry TV I think sells Jewelry right? Dish probably has an arrangement with them where they may get a little something for carrying it.

For those who DO want a particular channel, you should certainly made it known, band together, etc. Prove Dish's numbers wrong. If you can get a related group to help you out (for instance a GLB group), then maybe you can be loud enough for them to take notice.

I have nothing wrong with them adding any content, but at the same time it isn't my fight (I'm rather indifferent). On the other hand, I've fought for straight white guy channel for many years and people just call me names like 'intolerant'.. :)

If 10% of the population is, in fact, gay, than 10% of the E* customer base is likely gay. E* doeesnt have a particularly bad track record with gay people, no worse than many telcoms. The fact that 'all of gay people you know have cable' would not bare out statistically across E*'s customer base - the nuumber of gay people you know is too small of a sample. I invite you to contact the gay people you know to double check that they all actually have cable. If you know 10 gay people only one needs to have satellite....

Seven of my gay friends have Sat - three have E, and four have D. Anyway I digress...

Who cares if 10% of E*'s subscribers are gay? Does that mean 100% of them want LOGO? That would be a difficult 'yes' to come up with.

I'm sure a high percentage of E*'s subscribers are white. Does that mean they should assume that the subscribers want an all white network? I don't think so.

If you all want LOGO, then do like was said earlier. Band together and get their attention.

If 10% of the population is, in fact, gay, than 10% of the E* customer base is likely gay.

I'm thinking based on demographics I've seen previously, there's more gay people in metro markets than in rural ones. As result, more likely that more gay people have cable than Dish, in all seriousness.

We could get into statistics all day however. Point is, not enough have shown interest in Logo on Dish Network apparently and didn't bite when Here! was on PPV.

I don't remember being asked my sexual preference when I signed up for dish so don't know where the 10% figure is from.

If this channel gets added I hope it's only as a PPV channel.

HBOE HD is being shown
