DISH Network Retailer Chat Recap - "Hopper Special" - 2/16/2012

After reading all that everyone has to say about Hopper/Joey and its related fees, I'll add this to the mix:

Umm, no thanks, Dish ... I'll stick with what I've got.
Thats the great thing about all of this... you can do that!

Some people are acting like DISH is forcing them to upgrade... and they are not.

But if you got to have the latest and greatest they have made options available for those ho gotta have it! :D

If you like what you have now then keep it, you can always upgrade at a later time. :)

That's the thing. I got spoiled with Uverse. I know 1 Hopper/2 Joeys will give me exactly what we had with Uverse (3 total tuners). We miss being able to watch any recording on any tv.

That is your prerogative. I, for one am very excited about the prospect of having HD signal at every TV, having one set of timers and having one place where everything that my family wants to watch is located. No more will we be faced with: "dang, we can't watch this in the bedroom because it is recorded in the living room."

I am wondering if I take advantage of the AT200 and above offer, (Hopper, 3 Joeys) add an additional Hopper for $199 can I take one of the free Joeys and add it to the additional Hopper.
Also when Hoppers are able to network would I be able to remove two of the additional Joeys.

(H1)(J1) Hopper/Joey Combination
(H2(J2) Add. Hopper/Joey Combination

My set up would look like this in my house

(J1) ------(H1)(J2)

The (H)(J) side by side would indicate that I would want the Joey & Hopper to be in the same room, of course each Joey would run off of the hopper from the other bedroom. The third Joey would go in the third bedroom. We have a fourth TV in the living room but it's SD and never really watched.

I guess I'll be stuck upgrading no matter what though. Our 722k has an ongoing odd problem where I get a "Partial Signal Loss" and the only fix is to reset the receiver. It happens multiple times a week and DISH doesn't have a clue why.

I'm getting the same message more and more frequently with my nearly five year-old 622. Fortunately for me, I'm running a second (soon to be HD replaced SD) tv with a 510 that costs me $10 a month. Whole home dvr and a Joey will be $11, so it isn't a big deal. The one question I have to answer is will it be worth another $100 at installation to do two hoppers instead.

What are the rules for AT 200? If I bump up to AT200 and then the next day order my hopper and Joey and then a week after drop back down to AT120 ... Is that doable?

Mine is on a 4 month old receiver. :( I just hope I calculated the fees for a H/J system for us correctly. 1 Hopper/2 Joeys for $24 a month in fees. I pay $20 a month in fees with a 722k/222k setup.

I only have one TV... so can I only have the Hopper?
I have Latino 2, so it say it will be free and 6 for the DVR, and thats it?
Cause I think I won't need the $4 extra fee for the whole home.

You have to ask for a Hopper.
Good way for Dish to get rid of the ViP receivers then!

Bug report, by the way: I hit "Reply to Quote" for this and it did the above ^ (it included Skee7ix's quote, at least in the editor, not my quote)

Agreed, they aren't. But customers with just one dual-tuner receiver feeding 2 TVs (a high percentage of their base), they are in effect forcing them NOT to upgrade, unless they want to almost triple their fees for 2 TVs. 3 TVs, quadruple. :(

When I get the Partial Signal loss on my 722, all I have to do is hit the guide button then when the guide comes uo hit cancel. I get the picture back and if I rewind, there was no loss of signal on the channel I was watching.
