Dish Network Prepaid Question

2) Do they know about this forum, probably the one and only thread helping prepaid folks?

Prepaid folks are basically left to fend for ourselves, or in extreme cases help the dish network folks fix the problems on their end at our expense.

Second room for prepaid may be coming

In my email the other night to the execs with regards to the phone line problems, (888) 347-4132, I also asked about a two room solution. Jim DeFranco was cordial enough to return a response and stated that DISH is working on a second room option.

On another note, did STEELERSRULE ever get his system back up? Maybe he is due for the card swap.

Not yet.

I don't actually have the DP301 and the Dish 500 connected at the moment(disconnected and unplugged as of 12/24/08), and I have yet to reconnect it, and try to add more programming.

I got full refunds from GreenDot Moneypak on both of my cards. Including the $4.64/service charge they charged me, which I was not expecting. I figured that was theirs, and all I would get back is the load amount, but they sent me full refunds for both MoneyPaks. Very easy with no hassle at all.

Was going to move the whole system to another part of the house, and with all the snow, and STEELER WINS!!!! on the past couple of weekends, I have been unable/unwilling to do it yet. I am truly starting to REALLY HATE SNOW! :);)

I will eventually just connect it back up, and leave it plugged in and see if it does a download for any new info/updates, and then try calling the number to load programming from a freshly bought GDMP.

If it does not work I will try for the card swap, as r10fret mentioned earlier in the thread, and see if that works/helps my situation.

I actually took the time this weekend to reconnect my DP301 to the Dish 500 outside, and try to add new programming with a GDMP.

Got it all connected, and called the number on Saturday, January 24th 2009.

Lo and behold, I had NO PROBLEMS adding new programming. I was actually kinda "shocked" that all went well with ZERO problems.

I initially just ordered HBO for the day(wanted to see the Sugar Shane Mosley fight last night, and it did not disappoint), but after that went OK, I decided to try calling again, and I was able to add Starz, Showtime, Cinemax, and AT250 for a day with no glitches or problems.

The only thing that was weird, was after the voice prompt told me the date when all of my programming would expire on, and I told the voice prompt I needed nothing else and it said to have a good morning/day, that same voice prompt telling me too, "Please hold, your call is being forwarded to a representative..." would come up, but I would hang up.

So far everything has been fine, but I am still a little leary about relying on the setup. But if it works, it works.

I so far have not received ANY message on my screen telling me(as of 1/25/09) to call customer service in order to "switch out" my current Card for a new G3 purple card yet. I get all of my programming off of 110/119, so I wounder if they are getting the international people first. There seems to be no issue with the programming.

I wonder if this is why they send me to a rep after ordering programming? It makes no mention about the switch out, so it could still just be a "glitch" still in the system. But it could be doing that in order to get people to change their cards.

I don't know, but I will wait until I absolutely have to do this, as it seems to be a little bit of a headache trying to switch out the current card, and entering in the new one on the prepaid setup. I just got finished with this setup being a headache for over a month, and I don't want another one.

I will just let a sleeping dog lie for now. It is up and working fine for the first time in over a month, so i am happy for now.

my dp301 came with the g3 card, the last time i added time to it, the autoprompt also told me to hold for a CS. i held for a little bit and then hung-up. it had accepted my 'dishnow' card and repeated my order so i too think it is a glitch.

glad you goot back on.

Can somebody just give a "simple" explanation about HOW to use the green dot money card??
Such as:
If I pay $40.04 , plus the $4.95 fee for the money card , can I get AT 200 ( $44.99) for thirty days?

No.

The $4.95(or $4.64 at WalMart) belongs to Green Dot, so never figure that into the equation. The "load" amount($20-$1100) is what you would use.

There is on Dish's website a breakdown of what $40(or even $30) will get you.

I will list the $40 amount here, plus the daily rate(for Feb. 2009 increase):

$40 gets you:

Dish Family 60 Days
AT100 36 Days
AT200 26 Days
AT250 21 Days

HBO 80 Days
Cinemax/Showtime/Starz 92 Days

Porn 48 Days

Daily rate/per 2009 Feb. increase on the main programming for most people:

AT100 $1.17/day
AT200 $1.60/day
AT250 $1.93/day
HBO $.57 cents/day
Showtime/Cinemax/Starz $.43 cents/day

So never include the service fee into the amount on the card.

Also, believe on page 2 or 3(could be page 4) of this thread, I explain in complete detail on how to use the Green Dot MoneyPak.

It is LONG(actually teaching someone how to do it in front of you woud take like 2-3 minutes. Typing it out takes forever), but it is informative, and does explain how to use it in great detail.

prepaid question

Thank you , fellow STEELERS fan , for the "fee" explanation.
I just installed mine & used a $40 Radio Shack card.....
I'm disappointed that DN's AT100 programming has about 35 music channels , 20 infomercial & home shopping ones & a couple more SPANISH speaking ones ( useless to me).
Here we go STEELERS !! :up

First off....thank you to everyone for all their help in this thread. I'm a proud DishNOW! user specifically because of your contributions.

Two things: First, haven't added programming in a month and did notice now there is a prompt asking if there you received a smartcard expiration notice, all while ordering programming. Looks as if r10fret's help has paid off.

Second, I've distinctly noticed that IF you stay online after finalizing your program ordering you are forwarded to a customer service rep who has no idea why you were forwarded to him/her. (This is why everyone tells you to just hang up after your order is completed). It's my opinion that it is purely to capture your phone number so they can hound you to subscribe in the following days.

Always hangup immediately following the completion of your order.

Again thanks....good luck STEELERSRULE!~:)

I have a few questions regarding prepaid service. I did not read the other post so I'm sorry it has already been asked.

1. do you have to give a phsyical address for prepaid service?

2. can you order ppv events and movies with prepaid service?

3. if you have an old dish can you just connect the receiver to it instead of getting a new one installed?

You really need to read them, they are detailed enough to address most questions.

1. do you have to give a phsyical address for prepaid service?
A zipcode only, if your's happens to be from Delaware you shouldn't have any state sales tax. If you buy a prepaid receiver that does NOT have the new purple / G3 card, you will need to provide your information to Dish soon, in order to get a replacement card. So starting with the new smart card keeps you pseudo anonymous.

2. can you order ppv events and movies with prepaid service?
No locals, no regional sports, no PPV on prepaid.

3. if you have an old dish can you just connect the receiver to it instead of getting a new one installed?
Assuming it points at 110/119 and you just want core programming, you can just hook up the DP301 prepaid receiver to the existing dish and power it up. This is not true for the legacy prepaid receiver since your dish could be dish pro based.

Any tips anyone can offer?

I bought a prepay system last arrived last week. I have tried mutliple times to find the satellite. I also bought the finder.

I've checked all my numbers many times, the ones the the reciever tells me seem to match others found online.

I've called the seller 3 times and all I get is "you don't have it pointed correctly" and no further tips of what to try.

The finder makes no noise, when moved around. even turned all the way up.
Youtube videos seems to show it'll make a sound if you point it towards the ground. I get nothing no matter where it points.

Ive checked level I'm level, skew is right.

I have a neighbor with regular Dish network 2 house over so I know how his is pointed.

Had a friend come over who regularly RV and and sets his up all the time. And he can't figure it out.

I also tried extra cable that was sent to me, in case that's the problem. And tried running directly to the dish skipping the ground.

The only thing I get from the seller (who is a supporter and poster here is) "you don't have it pointed correctly" and a good luck.

great info satelliteguys!!!!!

great info gillham, a friend tell me that directv have something similar with two recievers no comitment, is this true?, I am not sure, please let us know so we can start asking the proper questions. thank you

Prepaid International 118

Can someone please confirm that I can order the Polish Superpack with prepaid before I go and buy the prepaid 301 receiver.

Thank you very much.

I had dish network service before and I still have the old dish up. it is a 4 room dish can I just plug the prepaid box to it or will I need a new dish? I found a prepaid box on a site called dish depot does for around $50 does anyone know if this is a good site to deal with? also can you get the superstations pack with prepaid?

The last listing I have for non-english programming available for DishNOW! shows:

Latino
Brazil Mini-Pak
Arabic Enhanced Package
Hindi-SET
ZEE TV
Pakistani-GEO
ARY Digital

Sorry, no Polish Superpak. Maybe someone else has an updated list. You may want to call Dish or go to their website for the latest info. Good luck.

I'm new here, love all the info.

I ordered a prepaid sysytem, dp301 reciever and cmae with a lnb that just had the "dish network" logo on it. It did not say dish pro, just the "dish network". So I have no idea whether it was the corrcect lbn it had 4 outputs on it, I thought it should only have 2.

I was never able to get it pointed.

My brother has dish network so I went and tried the reciever with his dish, connected right away. Then I switch his lnb with mine, lost satellite, never found it.

So then brought his lnb (3 outputs) to my house and was able to point the dish in minutes. His lnb says "d pro" on it. But it works!

So I'm guessing my lnb is either bad - DOA, or it's just the wrong one?

I have sent it back to the online company I bought it from, just hope they can send me one that will work with my system. I can't wait to get it turned on.

My brother wanted his lnb back so I can't use it. [cry]

Do you think it was bad or the wrong one?

thanks alot
