I don't know if that's how it should be done, but that's how I tested my prepaid reciever. I pluged it into my brothers dish, he has regular Dish Network service. It found the satellites right away and worked. wanting for a lnb to try again.
I am in a motorhome in Naples FL. I purchased a Green Dot Card. Since my dish can only receive one satellite at a time, I set it to 119. I followed the directions posted by SteelersRule and purchased one day of AT200. I appeared to have received it since I have the program menu.
If I press the enter key on any program all I get is "Your Smartcard does not currently have authorization to view or purchase this program. Please wait or channel up or down."
At the bottom of the screen it says I have two days left. I switched over to 110 and have the same results.
Any ideas?

I have terrible innternet access here, so if I don't respond right away, I probably don't have internet access.
Also what color are the channels you sub to in the guide? green, grey or red?
I should have access to the grey ones. The others are red.

I am back on 119. I disconnected for a few minutes and tried again with the same results.

Also are you able to recieve the "free" channels like Shopping, NASA and any Free Previews, I think VS and tennis is on free preview right now.
I called again. According to customer service/tech support, they will not send you a new card until you get the smartcard notification on the screen. She resent the signal to my reciever. I will add some days from the Green Dot Money Pack tonight and post results again.

Reading in another thread, I came across the "fact"(maybe fact, maybe not) that unless you are looking to get one of the international prepaid packages off of satellites 118 or 61.5, then you will not need to switch out the Yellow smartcard in these DP301's.
If you are getting the any of the main core(icludes AT pakcages, movie channels, porn) programming off of 119 or 110(English or Spanish TV), then the current yellow card is going to work just fine, and in the forseeable future.
This of course may change, but unless you are getting a international package off of 118 or 61.5, then the transition does not effect prepaid customers at all.
It is possible that since feb 1st dish is no longer doing new first time activations of yellow cards on prepaid core, movies, international, latino, or anything else. Various people have now indicated this in the last week, That is not stopping their system from taking your pin though so be careful with redeeming $40 pins with yellow card receivers.
If you are pre existing with core and movies you will still require a new smartcard soon could be as soon as 30-45 days. call 1 888 347 4132 press 0 ask for prepaid dishnow smarcard exchange agent, they should fill out a request and take your name, address info to have on file to send new smartcard.

rtfret, thanks for your pm, i'm dealing with my dealer right now to see what he can do, if nothing is done, then i will call them.
dish is really screwing up with this, i mean, they need to put a big message on their latest software preventin from pins being activated without new card or something.
right now im a lil pissed cause i got 2 $40 dishnow pins suckin away the days since i cannot get the picture going..
*Just an update, i just spoke to my dealer and he had someone the tech support directing to check some numbers, so it seems like they will be resending a hit to both receivers...as far as my $40card, dish tech support says i'm out of luck with the lost time. i'm a lil skeptical about activating oterh receviers i have left.

Dish I.T. dept has the ability to go in and add on prepaid days once you get a working smartcard to make up for the ones that were wasted. Of course your millage will vary depending on who you talk to and whether dish will actually admit the problems were their fault in the first place.
My brother just activated a non G3 on February 1st. It is working fine.
Have you verified you have the latest available software on the DP301? Power off with the remote and then hit 'Info', or without powering off just menu-6-1-3. The DP301 should be at P396 or P452.
With the Green Dot you can add a day of HBO or Cinemax for 50 cents or less. That's a good test I guess.
When Tech Support was trying to get my DP311 (not prepaid related) to take the authorization rehit they had me leave it on 101. I would recommend leaving your's on channel 101 while you're calling in any days of programming.
Also once they sent me a G3 card it would not activate right away so they bumped me to Tech Support. During the transfer I held the power button in until the receiver rebooted and it started working after it came back up, without Tech Support doing anything.
ok thanks, never really notice that until today that i've bein troubleshooting them...this is drivin me nuts, im gonna see what my dealer tells me tomorrow, otehrwise i will be forced to call that number adn see how they gonna resolve it...thanks for all your help r10fret..really hepful since dish phone reps dont even know such dishnow system exits...one question is puzzling me. dish thinks they have until mar4/09 to change all international channel to nag3, but how the hell they gonna change all internationals that are dishnow? i know someone with arabic package and they still haven't got any message on screen about new smart card..
