YouTube - Weatherman forgets he's on TV

That's the SD version, in HD you saw him opening the studio door. Then he held it open while he was talking to them. Gonna later use my digital camera to get a widescreen version. We will see, I saved it on the DVR for later. In OTA if that happened the meteorologist would be fired there & then. It's "cable" though & they may not even get a fine.

Take a look at this video from last night...
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jt0u1NevQY]YouTube - Weather Cast Channel[/ame]

Notice the time on the screen in the lower right.

Now notice what hes talking about. One of the lines was that people in one area should consider going home early from work to avoid the storm. Now if you look at the time its almost 7PM in that area, most people would have already gone home.

Also look for the Tornado warnings from their radar, a number of people reported that those storms have come and gone hours ago, yet they were talking about them like they were about to happen.

At 2pm edt today, The Weather Channel was on the air 'live' doing breaking storm coverage. The Weathercast Channel did not even have the tornado warning and severe storm warnings up for southern Illinois. So yes, I would say the Weathercast Channel is tape delayed and most likely out of date at times.

BTW, it looks like The Weather Channel caved to Dish's demands. The guide shows that Storm Stories should be airing from 2pm to 4pm as it usually does on Monday through Friday, but they are doing 'live' weather coverage. :)

As stupid as this sounds I believe weather coverage could be life or death information at times. All weather forecasts should be live when conditions warrent (and normally somewhere in the country there is a big weather event happening at anytime) so I find taped inaccurate weather forecasts unacceptable.

I notice that now when you go to dishnetwork.com/weather that it says "This page is temporarily unavalable, please check for updates often." Sounds like maybe they came to an agreement to keep TWC?

Not stupid at all. Some people rely heavily on weather info. All hurricane prone states, and tornado prone states. Not to mention everyone else who are making plans according to what the weather dude/chick is telling them. Next time I take my daughter out in the boat, I'll be checking Weather Channel not Weather Delayed Cast.

From MultiChannel News...

As of 2 p.m. Eastern Friday, The Weather Channel was still on Dish Network as the parties continued to negotiate carriage terms following the expiration of their previous deal.
Dish's previous deal to carry The Weather Channel expired at 12:01 a.m. Eastern on May 21.

On Thursday, Dish announced that it planned to replace Weather Channel -- which would make it the first major distributor to drop the 28-year-old cable channel -- with Weather Cast, a 24-hour service produced by WeatherNation LLC, a startup based in Excelsior, Minn.

I agree. Also, The Weathercast Channel is 'bush league' IMO. The audio is bad, at times very distorted and hollow sounding and the information is delayed. If Dish wants to provide this as an additional channel, fine! But it is definitely no substitute for The Weather Channel.

So here's what I would like to see as far as weather channels go....

1) The Weather Channel needs to continue their programming as it is and add a 2nd channel that is local on the 8's 24 hrs a day. No talking, No people, just radar 24/7

2) NOAA needs to have their own weather channel since they are the ones everybody else is mooching info off of. The National Weather Service Channel.

3) Weather Cast needs to realize that When someone is watching a forecast and the storm heading towards them is 3 hours away when actually the storm is on top of them and they couldn't prepare because of TAPE DELAYS? WTF? Serves no purpose.

Give Weather Cast a few days to get the bugs worked out. Expect to see lots of taped stuff today while they deal with some problems. Dish has given them the okay to tape stuff today:rant:

OK. I'll give them a few days. Don't want to give up on them that fast, but Tape Delays? It would be better for them to just run promos in the spots their running false info in. This is weather we're talking about. Rain, wind, sleet, etc. heading to your house. Maybe. Better look out the window because Weather Cast is tape delayed.

This just in. E* is having issue with another NBC owned channel in negotiations.

CNBC is being yanked. E* has another replacement ready to go, with Billy Jo Bob from Albuquerque doing financial analysis on The MoneyWatched Channel. Stock Quotes delayed at least 4 hours however and may be on a loop.

;)

OK, it isn't April 1st, but weather on a time loop? At least Sirius rotates out the weather on their traffic and weather channels 4 times an hour....

On the positive, I did like the 3d storm radar... Cool to see how high the moisture is in the atmosphere.....

Oh, but the MIDI music from a Nintendo NES video game system that plays over some of the maps has to go... Isn't there ANY better public domain jazz they could grab instead?
