Look, I don't know whose "fault" it is, but I suspect blaming both parties for the negotiation in public nonsense is pretty safe. When this happened last time with AMC, I got out my trusty spreadsheet, and calculated what it would cost me per year to "buy" each season of my preferred shows from Amazon. If I don't need to watch them as soon as new episode come out, then I might not even have to pay anything, depending on the show. However, even if I do pay for them with Amazon, I found that I would still be paying less per year than my annual cost for my DISH package comes out to. I did these calculations, because the carriage negotiations over the last few years have resulted in more and more public pissing contests and loss of stations for the consumer, with no reduction in fees. When my contract is up next year, I believe in either April or July, I will be saying goodbye to DISH after about 10 or 11 years. I cannot get Direct TV due to the satellite location, and Comcast is my only cable option. Since Comcast pissed me off with their cable service long ago and sent me to DISH in the first place, I am unlikely to try that again. Besides, I like my tech ie. The Hoppers, and I cannot bear to go back to Comcast's software and hardware. So, I will be cutting the cord and relying on my ROKU, along with Amazon, Netflix and Hulu for my entertainment. I still pay Comcast for my internet, because there is no way at all around that in our county. Actually, since Comcast will likely have kittens and throttle me over the streaming of TV, I guess I will have to get their most basic combo package to keep them a little happier. Sigh. I hate monopolies.
