Is there any chance of us ever getting a receiver from Dish like the 622 or 722 with ATSC out on the coax out for TV2 so we can do HD to both TV's?

Not bloody likely. ATSC is not copy protected, they won't allow it.

The only thing the 722k adds is the ability (with additional module) for two OTA tuners plus a TV1 output to channel 3/4 (you can already output TV1 with the 622/722)

ATSC support the broadcast flag, as as long as dish does not strip the broadcast flag when it remodulates as ATSC there should not be an issue.

Though the federal court knocked down requirement for devices to have to support the broadcast flag

The United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled that the FCC had exceeded its authority in creating this rule. The court stated that the Commission could not prohibit the manufacture of computer or video hardware without copy protection technology because the FCC only has authority to regulate transmissions, not devices that receive communications. It is possible that a higher court may overturn this ruling, or the United States Congress may grant such authority to the FCC. Some of the major U.S. television networks have stated in the past that they will stop broadcasting high-definition content if the rule does not go into effect.

Now the rule still is not in effect but with laws like the DCMA the TV networks found out if they put the broadcast flag in the signal it would be illegal for a device to rip it out. But still not illegal to have a device that does not recongize the broadcast flag but almost all the major STB manafactures support broadcast flag just in case the US government ever does manage to make the broadcast flag the law .

Now that remodulating into atsc and still preserving the broadcast flag probably what is stoping them.

The 922 should be able to sling to TV2 in HD. We should see it at CES and get the exact capabilities. They are not going to do ATSC out since it is not copy protected for PPV and premiums.

Fooey. A simple HDMI jack would suffice. Then we wouldn't need to pay for Sling hardware on either end.

I would like to see a receiver that can have an OTA antenna attached to its antenna-in port, then output the OTA signal mixed with its own TV2 signal on the antenna-out port. After 02/17 it would be possible to do this without too much trouble, since most VHF-low channels will be vacant, as will channels 52 and above.

Feed your TV2 output along with the OTA signal into the Out ports of a splitter to combine both at the In port. Set the receiver to output "antenna" instead of cable and pick a channel number that doesn't conflict with your OTAs.
