Dish installer came to house to upgrade from sd to hd, with new receiver and dish. Said it could not be done because of trees. We live on farm in stanton, tn 38069, 50miles ne of Memphis. He stated it uses a different satellite for hd--to the southwest. Have a barn approx. 225ft to the west of house with clear view of southern, and southwest skies. Can the cable be run that far? Which is the satellite used for hd with dishnetwork? And how does someone go about finding a competent installer, who is technically up to speed in the local area--someone who can be paid to do an installation which is somewhat out of the ordinary?
Hope this font size is large enough. Thanks.

38069 is an Eastern Arc DMA, so your installer probably came out with a 1000.4 dish and couldn't get LOS. That is hard to believe because the EA satellites are at an elevation angle of nearly 45 deg. This means you can point over most anything. I point over my own house and an adjacent tree to the south, for example, from the northern roof edge.

If he was looking to the southwest he might have been trying to put you on 129. Call cust serv and get a second opinion for eastern arc
