Dish just called...

Comcast is the HD leader, not Dish! :)

Actually, based on the radio ad I heard the other day, Comcast is the HD leader!!! :D So, Dish is not alone when it comes to false advertisment.

They have to be hurting badly. They are lucky I haven't left yet. But I'll give them through March to get that bird up and make amends, or I'll finally have to pull up my 11 year old Dish Stakes and make the jump.

I already went with Directv for hd a couple of weeks ago, but I kept DISH for the hd pack + ota & hd locals . Directv's dvr- hr21, doesn't have ota support. I need my ota channels due to the fact I "moved" to Houston. So I am committed to Directv for 24 months and have an sd receiver in my son's bedroom . I kept DISH in the living room and master bedroom for my wife. I can afford both due to the forced overtime I have to work . Who ever gets the most hd first I will be prepared. I have had DISH for over 11 years too, so this decision didn't come easily, but I got tired of waiting for more hd to come. I am happy with my new selection of hd with the hd dvr plus pack +starz/hbo.

Next person to get a call should ask for the list of 70 channels. If (when) they refuse, tell them you will be reporting the call to your state's Attorney General as false advertising. I think if management gets wind of that, they might clean up their act.

This is a rebuttal that we have for HD programming, when a cust calls in asking or talking about
going to directtv for hd
DISH NETWORK
Most National HD channels/Over 70 national channels with more on the way
We have 75 documented channels available nationwide, leading the industry in HD
37 channels of core programming, 15 of these are only available on DISH Network
8 HD PPV
22 Regional Sports Networks
4 Premium
DISH Network offers just as many HD channels as DIRECTV for the same amount of money a month.

DIRECT TV
now over 70 HD channels and get up to 100 by year end.
Every channel DIRECTV has highlighted, except for one or two, has been on DISH Network for months.
The Speed Channel isn't even available until February 2008.
Overall customers will end up paying more to get all of DTV’s HD programming than they would pay with
DISH Network, so don’t get fooled by the $9.99 price point.

Ditto on the Attorney general's office comment. Deceptive advertising and outright lying to attract business will get them hit with a cease and desist order faster than they can blink. Keep it up and they'll be in court.

lol. You may have to show Dish the way to court. Have they been there before???:D

Well these lies are one reason why I left Dish. It really pi$$es me off when I call in and get lied too about how they are the HD leader. Honesty would have gone a long way with me. Had they said, "yes, sir we don't have as many channels, but we are working on getting more" I may have stayed a little longer. As of Feb 4th I went back to D*. Previously I was with D* for about 10 or so years.

I can't believe some of you guys keep getting calls. Has anyone asked them to stop calling? If they call me and give me that BS they'll get reported to the state attorney and if they continue to call then add harassment to the false advertisement. I'm really not in the mood for E*'s crap. I actually had one outsourced rep refuse to transfer to cancellations to terminate my service because as she said, "I need to know a valid reason before I transfer you sir" I had speak to a supervisor before I was transfered. Is this a new tactic? Refuse to allow the customer to cancel.

I call male bovine fecal matter on this statement. Barrett Jackson on Speed in January was most definitely in HD.

You imagined that. Seek professional help immediately. :-)

If you can't say when they're going to be here, they're NOT on the way for practical purposes.

Dish is putting their stakes in their DVRs. They know they currently do not have the HD count, so they are really trying to pump their DVR. "Better than T***." "Award winning DVR." "The best DVR out there." ... etc.

It is my guess that Dish is hoping that their DVRs will keep people enough until they can get a bird or two up ...

Well, that is what is keeping me with DISH. The DVRs are pretty nice. I am more for quality than the competition having more HD channels. DISH will catch up. They just have had bad luck with satellite launches. Not their fault. I just wish they had respect for SatelliteGuys and come out with some kinda statement of info.

Show me one person who can actually receive all 22 at a single location.

WTF is the point of saying HD isnt available until Feb. Its Feb and Speed HD is up and running. Is it on dish? Nope!

Is it on direct? Yes!

Talk about crappy business practices!

I'm a recent/current E* sub after 10 years with D*. I'm not getting into a debate over which is better, b/c it's a matter of preference, but I assure you that D* has called me 3-4 times to "come back" and outright told me lies.... The one that I recall now is that E*'s DVR could not service more than one TV. When I told her that I had one DVR/box (722) servicing 2 TV's, she replied that they both had to watch the same thing. When I told her, no, that's not correct, she stated that it was "dangerous" to hook up a second TV to the DVR as it could cause damage to the DVR and TV's!! Another caller told me that E* didn't have any HD that D* didn't have! I personally don't think it's a E* or D* practice to encourage these salespeople to lie, but they certainly don't appear to be actively monitoring or discouraging it, either!

The first statement of not servicing more than one TV is correct..... if you mean HD. All the others afterwards could have assumed that point. So, technically their pitch is correct but leaves off that catch.

Sort of like the catch of Hillary's plan that says everyone (300+ million people) *must* by law purchase health care but leaves out the part of what the penalties will be for those that dont or cant. I suppose they will be convicted of felonies and sent to jail. Oh wait... if they go to jail they are guaranteed health care and dont have to pay a dime. Problem solved. :D

About three weeks ago, I got a call from a CSR offering me a $10/month discount for a year if I would agree to an 18 month contract at regular price after the year. Sounds like they're worried about defections for some time in the future. I declined because I'm going to give them a little time to catch up and if they don't, sayanaro!

I wonder if there are any stats available regarding any number of subs lost. I suppose we can just look at the number of subs today verses 6 months ago or something like that. Anybody have those numbers?

Tried that - got much backpedaling. Basically, the answer was that she couldn't name them, but they're there, and if I don't agree then I'm wrong. I thought the customer was always right - it's bad practice to tell the customer that "you're wrong, sir" and then not be able to back it up.

If I hadn't gotten mad and ended the call, I would have brought up that a large number of the channels are VOOM, which I used to appreciate, but lately - not so much...

I think I must have gotten the same person that you did....all she wanted to do was tell me how wrong I was and argue....what great customer retention!?!
