Will we have a choice when the official version comes out?Any reason anyone would say don't upgrade to the new interface?
Very true, but I mean updating now vs. When it officially is pushed outWill we have a choice when the official version comes out?
Depends on what you have - I had the HWS which I updated but I also had a H2K - I knew going in that they wouldn't talk to each other. Just so you know.Any reason anyone would say don't upgrade to the new interface?

Both my HWS and Joey updated[/QUOTE
Sorry - I should've mentioned that I've since gotten the H3 but as I recall there wasn't a huge difference one way or another with the Joey vs. before. But maybe I was too "wowed" by the new UI to notice. How is the Joey 1 performing with the new UI?
Absolutely not. Dish will not maintain (2) software forks for the same device, nor should they. Will we have a choice when the official version comes out?
I really didn't notice much difference with performance but maybe someone who is currently using Carbon with the HWS & Joey(s) could speak better on the subject. How are they performing with the new ui? That's my main concern at this point before updating
Thanks for the input I think I'll do the update today then. I'm excited for the new ui. When I switched from fios to the hopper the only thing I missed about fios was I thought the ui on fios looked much nicer and carbon ui seems to take care of thatI really didn't notice much difference with performance but maybe someone who is currently using Carbon with the HWS & Joey(s) could speak better on the subject.
There's no going back once you switch but that will be a non-issue soon I guess. as it sounds like all newer Hoppers will have Carbon. Thanks for the input I think I'll do the update today then. Thanks, so far the HWS has been running just as smooth as ever. The joey still runs at its sluggish self. It doesn't seem any slower than normal.Good luck!
Glad you got it running - and it sounds like your experience is about the same as mine. Thanks, so far the HWS has been running just as smooth as ever. The joey still runs at its sluggish self. It doesn't seem any slower than normal.
Only issue I've ran into is tuner 3 stays on the locals thru the satellite as if ptat is running all the time.Glad you got it running - and it sounds like your experience is about the same as mine.
It is, except when you record something to a non PTAT channel in non PTAT hours. So, in non PTAT hours you still have access to all three tuners.Only issue I've ran into is tuner 3 stays on the locals thru the satellite as if ptat is running all the time.
