Reads like the rate was the same, but how the contracts were structured made more profitable for Comcast and Direct.
In a unanimous ruling, the 10-member jury in Manhattan found ESPN liable for breaching a 2005 licensing agreement by allowing rivals to pay lower rates for ESPN Deportes, a Spanish language channel, without extending the same offer to Dish
Wow, the jury only granted just one of Dish's claims. I wonder how it'll affect the negotiations come September.
Maybe, but ABC / ESPN / Disney gets a huge amount of revenue from advertising as well, and if they see AutoHop as a threat to that they will certainly fight it.As was mentioned last week, I dont see AutoHop being a factor. DISH is ESPN's 2nd largest distribution, if DISNEY removed its channels from DISH they would be losing a major major chunk of their revenue which would hurt them probably more then it would hurt DISH.
Yeah real sad! But this is what happens when you have stupid people as juries.
Dish technically looses another court case. HA HA
Dish's current carriage deal with ESPN expires in September.
