DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

And now a POSITIVE note:
For those of you that have not had HDNET MOVIES until now, once or twice a month they show a movie (on a Wednesday) before it hits theaters and on-demand. It's always a Magnolia release, but there is a good variety and while I haven't been interested in all of them, I have watched maybe 75% of them. Just a little added "plus" in my book. Heck, they had 13 Assassins (Miike) last year, which may be my favorite film of the year.

AMC is running a lot of ads about AT&T dropping them tonight, but I haven't seen a DISH one yet. I am guessing the DISH one is a done deal.

What's your take on all of this?
It's so tiring watching channels
You like get pulled. Then they
Say we are saving you the consumer money.
All the providers do this. It's a horrible practice.
Now Uverse is pulling AMC. Only
Place too see Mad Men live will be Direc.
I wonder when they will pull AMC?

Just got this...

DISH to Replace AMC With Commercial-Free HD Movies

New Programming Also Slated to Replace IFC, WE

ENGLEWOOD, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 06/29/12 -- DISH (NASDAQ: DISH) will replace three AMC Networks channels -- IFC, WE and AMC -- tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. ET with what the company believes is stronger movie and entertainment content.

DISH will be providing HDNet Movies to replace AMC, and is offering Style and HDNet to replace WE and IFC.

So all of us that already have HDNET & HDNMV get screwed.

Thank you Charlie!

We might as well be like Dish and try to control our costs too. I do find it funny that Dish was complaining that AMC Networks had reduced value because their programming was so easily found elsewhere. Well, by not replacing lost channels, Dish's value has been reduced too!

Could have something with a reduced value argument. If I had a contract I would be getting a free legal consultation.

To anyone who is in my boat (250 & BB @ Home) just spoke to a CSR and got pretty any premium service except HBO and Starz offered for 1 month free. Took Cinemax.

Wow! So you only get screwed for 11 months.

Except that would imply that we all side with AMC in this, which is not the case.

Or, it implies that you don't want to be sh*t on regardless of the reason, or who may or may not be at fault.

I totally agree with Dish and AT&T on this...I am tired of my bills going up.

AMC and the other networks are not the one raising our rates.

.

Actually they are. If the gas station raises how much the gas costs, do you blame the gas station or the people that supply the gas? I blame all the content providers, not the people who are rebroadcasting them, just like I don't blame the gas station for high prices of gas, I blame the people who make the gas and all the profits from it.

Your reply is not really responsive to my post. Obviously those that get all three now, are not getting anything new. I was very specifically talking about the posts where people want a discount on their monthly bill. I doubt you called Dish asking to pay more the day a a new channel was added, or HD was added. So why would you think Dish would lower your bill the other way? No question some people are getting something additional, some are not. That's different than saying your bill should go down now. I posted already I am dissapointed Dish did not actually add programming for everyone they should have.

I never said they should lower my bill in that post. I simply want them to provide me the channels I signed up for when I signed my contract. We are now paying the same price for less. I may not have responded to the main point of your post but I did directly respond to part of it that I strongly disagreed with.

Second point, who exactly is getting something additional? Unless they are providing these replacements to everyone and not just the people who got AMC in their package no one is getting anything additional. AMC was in AT200 and up. HDNet and Style were also in AT200 and up. AT200 and up subscribers now lose AMC, We, and IFC and gain HDNet Movies. By my math that is a net -2 channels.

Is there anybody else around here that hates useless repetition as much as me? Let me hear you!!!!! (and waiting for the hits from the usual offenders).

You're right you have made almost that exact same post several times in this thread.

Not celebrating that these channels be pulled, hopefully the door will not be shut for future discussion. For me I will have to wait a bit longer for Mad Men on Netflix. Just don't what else can be said now

It's sad how a grate channel like ifc was 10 years ago go down the tube over the years.

Just about all the channels have gone down the tube over the years, with all the same show reality stuff all day long, and moving away from the channel was intended to show. MTV, Syfy showing wrestling and mostly ghost shows, USA showing nothing but the same L&O and NCIS over and over and over again 98% of the time, all day long.

I would have to agree with Mike, SyFy has gone downhill in the past couple of years, same can be said for USA network, AMC has better programming than these NBC-Universal networks do, having AEP pack doesn't give me any extra channels, I should be getting at least a $5.00 credit or extra channels to replace AMC, unfortunately Fearnet is one channel that doesn't appeal to me, not much else is out there, if Smithsonian HD channel came back it could make up for AMC, As I never watched WE or IFC, if IFC were in HD maybe I would've watch some shows on there.
