DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I just got off chatting with a CSR. After some haggling I was offered a $35 credit and a Roku. He initially offered a 10$ credit for six months.

We went back and forth a bit but all in all he was helpful. The longest part was waiting 25 minutes to chat with him.

I agree. Really impressed,i did not expect that at all. I just hope all goes as planned. So far there is no indication in my account of anything. The guy told me he was over nighting the roku and another hdmi cable and that I would get a confirmation email. So far nothing, will wait till tomorrow to get concerned though.

i was told i would get my roku in 7-10 days. thats cool though.

I got a email from dish on how to set up my Roku after receiving one, I would assume that you should have gotten one also?

I didn't get any email after I they told me I would be getting one. I hope this doesn't mean the loyalty rep messed up.

I live 50 miles outside a population base of just under a 750k people in a state of 1.5 million. I ain't no city person. :)

That said, I'm grateful for having just a 3M dwn and 750k up dsl available. That's my only option other than satellite. A Roku should just work well enough for me.

The original concern is valid, what about those without high speed and not willing to move? Change providers is about all that's left, or peddle the Roku and accept the change in entertainment environment.

You are lucky with that kind of speed out in the boonies like we are. We're pretty lucky too with 4M down and 640K up DSL but we're the exception. We put in a lot of HughesNet and WildBlue for people who would otherwise have dial up. Too bad the usage caps are so low on the new WildBlue / Exede otherwise that would work well for streaming.

Late to the forum this weekend and it appears I didn't get the email everyone is talking about. I've been with Dish for almost 5 years and I'm out of contract. Can someone post the phone number listed in their email (if not against the rules)? I'd like to call and give it a shot.

thx,
frank

E-mail from Dish:

Find out how to enjoy your shows on Amazon® and iTunes® on your computer or by streaming through your Xbox®, PlayStation®, Apple TV® or Roku®. Call today at 1-888-581-1972 to learn more.

Thanks for being a valued DISH customer.

Sincerely,
DISH

Done.

I called the number and mentioned that I was going to lose Breaking Bad and Walking Dead, and all I got offered was 3 months of free BB@H because he said those shows would be available there. No amount of coaxing would get him to offer me the Roku. :(

Sounded like a bunch of bulloney to me.

Does anyone else find the irony in Dish giving out Rokus so that subs can watch AMC shows, while using the argument that AMC's distribution on Amazon, Netflix, and iTunes is diluting the value of the channel?

These idiots are basically showing that they own a bottled water company that uses the city tap.

Doing chat now. I mentioned the AMC programming and the Roku and got sent to an account specialist...number 76 in queue. 20 minute estimated wait.

AMC

Well just read that Charlie was paying .26 monthly per subscriber to AMC and they wanted .75 monthly per subscriber. He cares so much for his subscribers lol that he dropped AMC, but last month my bill went up $1.25 since they raised the cost of protection. Did you know looked up dish management and they have FOUR pages of managers. Been with dish since 1999 when dish was a decent up and coming company, but now Charlie the greedy has turned it around. Will be looking at either DirectTv, Prism or cable. For $180 per month I feel I could do better. Charlie can rot, I did enjoy AMC and for them giving me Hdnet, big deal had that before. I guess AMC refused to give greedy lowlife Charlie any money under the table for himself as he could care less about the subscribers.
