My manual says that my declination angle on the dish should be 30 deg.
Later on it says that based on my lat (74) it should be 23.4. Probably accounting for the motor post angle, so which is it?

I hope it's not 23.4, 'cause I can't get there without modifying the post.

Thanks

What kind of motor and dish?

If its a Winegard DS 2076 dish make sure to use the RED line when setting the elevation....

Winegard 76m dish, H-H DM-910 motor, Viewsat Xtreme receiver.
Thanks, the book does not explain the red line marker.
So I'm setting it for 23.4, which I'm assuming combined with the motor post angle, gives me 30 deg.
Back on the roof!!!
Thanks again,
Bob

Welcome to the forum Bob

there are a bunch of good guys here and i'm sure they will help get you pointed in the right direction. the main thing to remember is not to get frustrated. at pointing the dish and sometimes the lack of answers. from reading all your posts , i gather your location is at

ZIP 13167 West Monroe, NY

that was in another post just not this one. i didn't find that motor listed but i'm sure someone here knows.

oh i forgot to add
most motors (elevations) are set to latitude and and then set the dish elevation which for you is probably that figure of 23.4 so there are two sets of elevation one for the motor and one for the dish.

enjoy the site and good luck
