Dish 922 Sling Issues

Hello,

I am a long time lurker and long time Dish customer. I want to make it clear that I am not trying to start a Dish bashing thread, but I cannot believe there are so many issues with Sling and the 922. I have called the Csr's at Dish, chatted with Dish, Googled, searched Satellite Guys, Dishsupport and other sites for information on 922 sling issues. I understand that with thousands of combinations of hardware, cable, ISP's, routers, switches, ethernet cables, Windows versions, configurations and others unknown, there will be issues and glitches. However even technically savvy individuals can spend tens of hundreds of hours trying to sort theses issues out. I have recently discovered that the 64 bit Windows 7 browsers (IE and Firefox) display very poor video quality especially in HD. The 32 bit IE looks decent on Dishonline, but much better on slingbox.com even the program guide does not and I assume the Dish 922 is no longer supported on Slingbox.com. I only hope this message will save some other Dish customers countless hours troubleshooting. Also MAYBE Dishnetwork can be prodded to improve the software support, customer support, hardware support, and especially educate their CSR's and maybe create accurate, easy to find information on these features and limitations on their normal and technical support websites and DIRT team members. Thanks,

Steve

At least your connects. I can't ever get mine to even stay connected. It will show it's connected, transmit data, but on my Android app it shows offline. When I go to "my receivers" it's yellow, not clear or green. I don't understand it.

Do you have your receiver connected with a direct Ethernet connection or with the WiFi adapter?

Mine is direct connected and I've always had the same issue. Whenever I open the app on my android it gives me weird guide info from another area, and says the receiver is not connected. I have to hit menu/refresh EVERY time I open the app. After the menu/refresh it normally populates the correct guide info then I can connect. Sometimes it takes a couple of refreshes, but it does eventually populate. This has done this ever since I got the 922 a year ago. My only gripe, other than the loud popping sound when you skip fwd/bck.

The wrong locals happens on my iPhone DRA app as well. It has done that from day one and it's only the HD LiLs. Just hit refresh and it corrects itself, most of the time.

With all due respect as the DIRT team is awesome I gave up my 922 and requested a 722 and a sling adapter.....work with DISH folks and get rid of the 922....there is nothing good about it...I could go on and on, but the 722 has now become the most reliable multi-purpose receiver I have had with DISH and I have been with them for over 13 years.
That shouldn't be doing that. If you'd like to get a replacement sent out please just PM your account information.

Zach,

I use a direct Ethernet connection to my 922. I just check both my Dish Android app and dish.sling.com and my receiver shows completely offline. After I hit refresh, it still does not come back. I have another thread on my particular issue here:

Any help is appreciated.

Exact issue with me. Except my receiver never really "wakes up". It does it whenever it feels like it.

How do you upgrade from a VIP 222k receiver to DuoDVR® ViP 722k
