Dish 811 Remote with SONY AV Receiver STR DE897

Does anyone know if there is a way to use the 811 remote with the Sony 897 receiver (at least for Volume). I have tried the published codes in the 811 manual and also tried the "Power Search" routine without success. Dish does not guarantee the remote will work with all receivers, but why would a new Sony receiver be so much different than the older ones?

Have you checked the Sony's settings. I'm not familiar with your specific receiver but many have different code sets they will respond to. The dish remote most likely will not work if the receiver is not set to the "AV1" code set.

I have a sony 695, and had to change my sony remote code setting to 1 on the receiver(the default is 2). You also have to change the remote code on the sony remote itself as well. Once you do this, the code listed in the 811 manual should work.

Thanks. It worked perfect. Saved me from that multiple remote dilema!!! Too bad Sony doesn't address this in the manual.
