Dish 508 DVR with Cable System?

I think I know the answer to this question but I have to ask just in case....
Is there anyway I can use my dish 508 dvr receiver with my local cable system ( Insight )? I am using the Motorola HD DVR that they provide and it really is a pain after using the dish 508. I don't have Dish anymore so I am not using the 508 right now.
The Motorola does have a dual tuner and is HD but its little things like everytime you go to the channel menu you have to choose your favorites category instead of it staying in that category until you choose another one. Or the fact that there is no category for all subscribed channels. Or that when you are watching something in slow motion the on screen display gets in the way of what you are trying to watch! And the biggest complaint is there is a lag time that varies from a little to a lot when you just want to rewind whether it's live TV or something you recorded. Why would that happen on something you already recorded? It makes no sense to me.

Dish receivers will only work with Dish, only exception are the HD receivers which will also work with OTA. No Dish receiver will work with cable.

Incorrect.
3750, 381,811, Q-BX with 622/722 support QAM (nor scrambled ). Just search in Dish forums for 'QAM'.

Yup I use my 811 with cable to get some channels E* didn't have or I didn't sub too.

I forgot about the 811, but the OP wanted to use the 508 as a cable dvr. No Dish receiver works as a cable dvr.

What would be nice if you would read the OP. Non subscribed 508 will not work with any of these.

Your sliding here:
1) "No Dish receiver will work with cable." -> 811,etc ?
2) "No Dish receiver works as a cable dvr." -> 622/722 with Q-BOX ?

We will see how Q-Box will works with PVR508 soon. Warm up the crow.
