Hello, I've read a few post in this forum about the Dish 1000 that can receive 4 sat. signals and was wondering if anyone had any information on this dish. Is this something that's available now, and if not, does anyone know when it will be available?
Also, I currently have a superdish and receive sats. 105, 110, and 119. Does anyone know if I could also receive 61.5 or 129 with the Dish 1000?
I would like to receive the voom programming without purchasing the DP44 switch. Thanks for any information.

The Dish 1000 receives 3 orbitals: 110,119,129. That's it's designed configuration.

What is your local market? There may be a chance it's one of the markets that may be moving to 129.

Either way the dish 1000 isn't designed to pick up any other sats then 110,119,129

Well it looks like your local market is staying where it is for now. So there wont be any way for you to get voom without a DPP44

Of course you could buy a cheaper DP21 and just get voom one 1 receiver.

I called Dish and they want $199 for install of 2nd dish (includes switch).
I have never viewed any of the voom programming, so I was wondering if anyone that currently has voom thinks it's worth paying $199?
Or what's the chance of Dish running a promotion later at a discount?

How can I get info on which markets are changing? I have heard they will be here in October. Seems awfully fast, not that im complaining about dumping the superdish...

I assume you've got a superdish.

How many tuners need to see the second dish?

A local retailer should be able to provide a DP Dish300 and a DP21 or two for a LOT less than $199.

Half of my DC locals (major networks) are on 110 and the other half are on 61.5 (PBS, PAX, etc.) so I took advantage of the free 2nd dish for the VOOM HD channels. First, what are the odds of E* moving my 61.5 locals over to 110/119/129? Second, regardless of how many dishes one may use, don't all locals have to be received with a single dish? Finally, assuming E* were to move DC locals from 61.5 to 129...would E* be required to foot the bill for a Dish 1000?

very possible...

yes. One dish. A dish 1000 does qualify as one dish. Or if they moved ALL DC locals to 61.5, that counts as one dish. There are markets where all locals are on 148 only (not on 110/119)

if you have a dish at 61.5, maybe not. They may just have to reaim that dish. If you didnt have the wing dish, then yes.

Thanks! I assume they will be moved off of 61.5 since most people in this neck of the woods have a single dish pointed at 110/119 - a small percentage have a 2nd dish pointed toward 61.5. Therefore, it would make financial sense to leave the current channels on 110 and move the ones on 61.5 over to 129. Of course, I would hate to be the poor bastard having to juggle 100+ DMAs and engineering a solution to make them all fit back onto a single dish...especially during the MPEG-4 transition. Yikes!

there is only 35 or so DMA's that have split locals
(some have only one channel like Minneapolis so it isn't much to do...its the ones like NY & Boston that are going to be an issue) :)

If by tuners you mean receivers, then I only need one to see the second dish. I have an 811 that I want to use for the voom channels.
How could I use a DP21 with my existing set up?

Excuse my dumbasstitude, but what is the difference between the SuperDish and the Dish 1000? According to the SuperDish Upgrade Offer E* will upgrade the Dish 500 for $50 w/12 month programming commitment. The SuperDish specs look similar to what I have read about the Dish 1000. Is the Dish 1000 replacing the SuperDish or are they one and the same...if I order this upgrade will I have a Dish 1000 installed?

Thanks...

Superdish and Dish1000 are nothing alike. The superdish is for 110, 119, and either 105 or 121 and is much larger than a Dish1000. The Dish 1000 is much smaller (the pan looks very similar to a D* multi dish) and it is for 110, 119, & 129.

Also the Dish1000 is not really out for the general public yet.

You attach the output of the wing dish to input #2 of the DP21, and the output of your Dish500 or DP34 (SuperDish) that was hooked to the tuner in question to port #1.
