I was reading through the wikipedia the other day, and noticed they had a discussion about this. I found it fascinating that the wiki authors decided to go with "DirecTV" instead of "DIRECTV", despite the fact that DIRECTV themselves go so far as to identify "DirecTV" as another company.

I really want to use DIRECTV personally, because it's their brand and I it's up to them how it's stylized... But DirecTV just looks so much better. I suppose it's familiarity.

Also, did you know it's more common for people to search for "Direct TV" than "DirecTV" on Google? This also surprised me.

I suppose it is all moot now that AT&T is here, so I'm not going to bother making any changes in the way I type it. :)

IMHO,

The use of D* goes back to the days of using P* to mean Primestar. (Primestar was a fake DBS system owned by cable companies and tied in with several MLMs/pyramid schemes, long gone.) I don't like it.

The origninal name of the system was DSS, back when there were two seperate providers (or three if you counted the NRTC crooks) . After buying out USSB and the NRTC and getting into a trademark dispute with a computer company called DSS, the company just went with DirecTV.

Through multiple owners, every one has always used DirecTV. Until AT&T, which uses DIRECTV or AT&T DIRECTV. I don't see the issue with either way. Direct TV is just wrong.

The company's name as registered with the Delaware government and the US Patent and Trademark Office as "Directv LLC" as neither recognizes UniQUe CaPITalizatTIonS.

You forgot Directv, which is what I use, even though it's not technically correct. DIRECTV feels like you're yelling.
