If it makes enough money, sure, but a start up like that would need a lot of capital, the rights for sports and regular programing would be extremely expensive.

I do not know what will happen with businesses, all I do know is the main reason Amazon’s TNF will be on DirecTV is because they need to upgrade their broadband and equipment.

The next five years will be interesting.

I know that and am looking forward to it, I just wonder how programming will be packaged towards a business, we pretty much know how it will be for consumers.

Why does it have to be packaged, it will just be a different delivery system. In fact it would be easier to run cat 6 everywhere and not coax.

They will need it, Satellites will fail, no more going up, will be unprofitable, programing is switching to streaming.

What choice do they have?

I was placing fiber between CO's in 1991 and its still working great.

Its all been replaced with better fiber..the early stuff was multimode..the newer stuff is single mode...basically the core is much smaller and light travels further without the signal being regenerated...multimode only goes short distances..single mode can co 100 miles because it uses lasers that can burn a hole in a concrete block

The NFL sold it as an exclusive. Amazon made the decision to sublicense it to Directv, but they were under no obligation to do so. The NFL didn't care, they got their money.

Directv has said they will talk to whoever wins the rights for NFLST for a similar deal, so I think it is nearly 100% certain that Directv will continue to have the commercial exclusive for NFLST. Either way the NFL won't care, they'll get their money.

Directv may also ask for the right to offer NFLST to their residential customers (presumably at a higher price than streaming) but whether they will ask and whether they'd come to a deal is anyone's guess.

Fiber is just a different delivery method. Most people who have cable TV today have it delivered by fiber until the last few hundred feet to their house. Verizon has been selling FIOS for years which is cable TV where the fiber goes all the way to your house. There are some cable TV companies that are using IPTV delivered via coax in some areas or fiber in others but IP everywhere. Different delivery methods change nothing.

People trading Directv or Comcast for IP delivery like Sling TV or Youtube TV are not "cutting the cord". They are getting the same cable TV style packages delivered in a different way.

IP delivery doesn't make the cable/sat model go away. It is people dropping linear TV with channel numbers whether delivered by coax, satellite or internet and assigned slots where program X comes on at time Y that makes it "cord cutting".

They only use single mode for long runs. The fiber coming to people's houses is not single mode, because it is more expensive and more labor intensive to terminate. The 'advantage' of long runs is irrelevant when it is running a half kilometer or so from a nearby cabinet to your house.

I guess you never heard of fios and PON technology..they may use a splitter but its all single mode fiber...another advantage of single mode fiber is the frequencies that can pass thru it...multimode had to be regenerated..fios doesn't

Amazon realized bars and such don't have high speed internet...its now August..so they went with directv...if you tell a business they have to incur an additional expense on top of license fees and such to watch a mediocre thursday night football game...most will tell Amazon to pound salt ..and thats why they went with directv...someday 5g wireless internet could solve the issue..but not today
