The current number of fans able to get NFLST is, 99.9%. You want it, you call the nice DirecTV lady and she sends out a nice man to do an instal, and there you go.NFL has always been about the money, if they really wanted to maximize how many fans are able to get NFLST, they would go with Amazon.
I don’t think 99% of the country can get DTV.The current number of fans able to get NFLST is, 99.9%. You want it, you call the nice DirecTV lady and she sends out a nice man to do an instal, and there you go.
If on Apple, pretty much the same deal. You go to Best Buy and get the proper equipment, or download the app if you already have it, and there you go. If Amazon, same thing. Netflix. Hulu, ESPN+. Peacock, Paramount Plus. Whatever.
The idea that there are more than a handful of people, literally less than 100 in the whole nation, that are on some crusade against DirecTV and are staring dumbly at their TV, wishing oh wishing that somebody else sold ST, is just not accurate. Within a 0.01% margin of error, everyone who wants ST, HAS ST. The size of the customer base for ST is a known number.
The issues going forward, of course, are the millions of people who CANNOT get video quality internet service where they live, or, where their business is located. The NFL is doing those people a disservice, yes, but Rural Americans are very rarely anybody in power’s first concern.
And, how to bundle. Since this product WILL continue to lose money on a cash basis, as it always has, Apple, or Amazon, or whoever, has to predicate buying it on first buying something else, just as DirecTV does. For home customers, this is probably some combination of Apple TV + and buying new Apple products on a regular basis.
The issue becomes businesses. Leaving out the millions who have no other need for video quality internet, there is no real value for a sports bar in an Apple TV + subscription. Mostly female oriented melodramas.
Which is why a B2B deal with DirecTV makes sense.
Correct... but the people that can't probably have access to decent enough internet. I can't imagine the Venn Diagram of people who have awful internet and no access to Directv is much of an overlap.I don’t think 99% of the country can get DTV.
According to previous findings posted earlier in this thread, that may have already been determined....Personally, I find humor in services abandoning sports for cheap online streaming... are now going all in on adding live sports. Again, I can't imagine anyone just giving NFL ST away with their service. That'd be nuts! Yes, Apple could literally burn stacks of money and still make lots, but that is an exception and the value of NFL ST is too high to give away when paying billions for it.
CBS and Fox have clauses in their NFL contracts mandating that Sunday Ticket can only be offered at a premium price, meaning that it likely will carry a similar price tag with a new partner as it does with DirecTV.
Sports Media: Sources: Apple, Amazon front-runners for Sunday Ticket
According to previous findings posted earlier in this thread, that may have already been determined....
Yep, exclusive too....no RSNs.....Related, Apple just announced a deal with MLB for 'Friday Night Baseball'
Agreed. Most likely nowhere near Direct's premium price, but not just included in a Prime membership....Depends on how that's defined really, could just mean a premium over standard services, for for example if it was offered at $99 on top of annual Amazon Prime fees.
That's weird. It isn't commercial free, so why would the price of NFL ST impact them? People would be watching CBS or Fox regardless OTA or through ST. Might hurt local broadcasters, but I can't imagine by much.According to previous findings posted earlier in this thread, that may have already been determined....
Looks like Apple is pulling ahead-
The NFL is currently fielding offers for three assets: an equity stake in NFL Media, the “NFL Sunday Ticket” package for out-of-market games, and livestreaming games on mobile devices.
Correct... but the people that can't probably have access to decent enough internet. I can't imagine the Venn Diagram of people who have awful internet and no access to Directv is much of an overlap.
Right, cause you have people in apartments that won't allow satellite, or private property.I don’t think 99% of the country can get DTV.
More likeStarLink, star bright,
First star I wish upon tonight..
I don't know if I should consider myself lucky or cursed to be part of that alleged .1% that can't get DirecTV.The current number of fans able to get NFLST is, 99.9%.
Only for Business Customers is the rumor.Right, cause you have people in apartments that won't allow satellite, or private property.
So If Apple gets it, would they put it on DTV , cause I read in here that something about Apple & DIRECTV.
and the commercial plans are?The NFL doesn't care about people like us with terrible internet. They just want the cash. That is why Amazon has the exclusive Thursday night game package now.
Also what about systems like cable bahamas and other caribbean systems that have NFL ticket on cable.Only for Business Customers is the rumor.
