Well one hdmi cable does not differ from another aside the version number, and passing 3d or ethernet via the cable if the device supports it. But as far as your hdmi cable vs the techs, there is no technical difference between the two.

Imo you have either a defective box or possibly a defective cable, if both cables show the same poor pic quality then its most likely the box, if the box has already been changed, then your down to the tv or settings on the tv.

I know its not what you wanted to hear, but unfortunately facts are facts. Do you have any other components hooked up to the tv? Bluray,ps3,xbox etc? How do they look.

Also keep in mind there is only so much a tech can do about picture quality in general, signal aside, we are not trained nor authorized to calibrate tvs. Sounds like your tech did quite a bit to help you out, i hope he can get things resolved.

Firstly , it is definitely not my TV. the TV was just fine using the H24/200 receiver when I cancelled the service in February , 2013 just 3 months ago. Now with the H24/700 color and picture not up to par with the other receiver.
The Tech tried Two HDMI cables and Then tried the Component cables and none made any difference. So number one , I rule out a faulty TV and number two , I rule out faulty cables. So that leaves the box alone for the problem and They will change it out I am sure.

Just checking, but did you try adjusting the picture with the tv's picture controls? All boxes will output slightly different levels and you need to adjust with the tv's picture controls

I wouldn't rule out the tv yet. A lot could happen in three months.

Now I'm not saying that the tv went bad, most likely something got changed accidentally if that is the culprit. As I mentioned before, I'd double check those settings. Adjust as needed, if needed and the new box doesn't correct it.

I's definitely not the TV. hat one rule out completely. The tech did play with the TV settings , but that did not help either . I also do not know the kind of dish I have . He said he replaced it with another , but I d not know what kind of dish he replaced it with I know it is Slimline because I see it on the dish , but don't know if it is with SWM or not. Maybe it's just me , but the dish looks larger than the one I had. Can someone tell me what SWM is ? And how to tell what I have.

Swm just means single wire multi switch. Only needs one line off the dish to feed up to 8 tuners. However since you only have one receiver you only need one line to begin with. I don't believe Internet access benefits just hd receivers pretty sure ya need a dvr so I don't think Swm would benefit you at all.

Thank you.

The Tech installer said he replaced my dish , but if he did , he replaced it with a dirty one . That's the same dish that's been there ever since I was upgraded to Slimline about three or four years ago . I can't remember exactly. I just don't like to be lied to. In all my years with DTV , I can honestly say they have never lied to me that I have been aware of , but this tech obviously lied and he was the one I trusted more than the others. He lives in my town not far from me and I always request him.

I'd say the OP is beyond help. He refuses to consider adjusting his TV display controls, accuses an individual of lying because he has a dirty dish, and believes replacing a receiver will affect his colors appreciably. He is so wrong on so many issues, and completely certain of his position that it's nearly futile to address the issues he raises. Sometimes it's the things in life that we know for certain are true, but just aren't so, that hurt us the most.

Get your TV professionally calibrated, or at least Google the topic, buy a calibration disc, and do a quick and dirty amateur calibration. You might learn something in the process.

IF the receiver is defective, then the OP could be right.

He may have replaced the lnb, not the entire dish. Perhaps you misunderstood what he said, or he didn't say it correctly.

That is most likely it, as I can see no reason to replace the dish itself.

It is for customers like this I always carried a small functioning TV in the truck. Over the years there were so few defective DirecTV boxes and so many defective & poorly maintained customer rigs it became a once a week demonstration. Showing a clear picture on another TV sometimes got their attention. My fav still is. " ...after lightning took out my roof antenna I decided to call DirecTV rather than replace it with the insurance money....lucky it didn't hurt the TV, right?"

AND adjusting the aspect controls on both the receiver and the TV can be a challenge. Maybe solid gold fittings is the answer.

If you are referring to ME. I am a she and No my good sir , I am Not beyond help. I have believed all along that it was the receiver and it turns out that it was the receiver. He told me yesterday that he would try to find one like I had before . He called me and told me that he had located one and would be by to make the exchange. The problem is now resolved with An H24/200 and now the color is the way it was before and picture is perfect just as before. Nope wasn't the TV as I have stated all along .
