My bad, I've had a horrible day. Not that it's justified, it's not the OP's problem it's mine. My apologies, I was out of line. The OP was right.

Actually she discovered a technical issue. This stuff should be interchangeable and tech should not have to dig around for specific models & mfg codes. Even Directv CSRs will not promise specific equipment. There has to be a technical reason why only a certain receiver will work with some TVs. Someone on the DirecTV side should figure this out and make it go away.

IIRC, Directv only uses off shore call centers during off hours.

Dish Network uses off shore as well for many calls. BTW one of the great things about a DVR is the ability to pause programming and basically watch commercial free. You could record a few things or just pause and fast forward through the commercials. These days I think a DVR is an absolute must.
