Even without removing any PPV that still leaves 11 more slots to make 35. They can put up much more than 35.

14 CONUS I believe. D* current pattern has been no more that 5 per TP. So that would mean 70 CONUS channels from D11.

I'm not sure how many spot beams there are.

21 legacy moved from D10 to D11, including PPV + 12 new RSNs + 8 new PPV (some may be temporary) + 4 new stations = 45 total. Yes they can get another 30 or so station on D11.

This also frees up space on D10. The pattern appears as if they want to put all of the RSNs and PPV with other nationals on D11 and all of the premiums and other nationals on D10. This is just the trend of movement in the last few days...nothing official.

I believe it is Direct, but I could be wrong? It is a Direct bird, but I don't know if they licensed the other transponders out, and if so, how many?

Something is off about this one. Channel 539 is Showtime Showcase. I know in our guides it says Showtime 3 but per Directv's page for their Showtime package, it lists 539 as Showtime Showcase. So Showtime Showcase should be 539.

The 32 are on 99c (Conus). The spots on this 99 are on 99s (spot) and there are another 32 transponders available on 99s.

It's not the satellite that has the licenses for a particular orbital postion its the company, as in D* or E*, if they decided to use 1 or more satellites to provide all their licensed coverage that's up to them. In the case of 99 and 103 Ka licenses if you read the link I gave you earlier in this post: DBSTalk.Com - View Single Post - DIRECTV and Ka (with satellite configs) Tom says:

"Typical Ka dbs licenses allow two 500 mhz ranges of downlinking: 19.7-20.2 GHz (A-band) and 18.3-18.8GHz (B-band) as well as three more of uplinking. Ku licenses allow one 500 mhz range each.

Directv standard Ku transponders, numbered 1-32, are 29mhz wide with 24mhz usable. For D10 and D11, Ka transponders are numbered 1-24, and are 40mhz wide with 36mhz usable. S1 and S2 can be operated as eight transponders 62.5mhz wide."

DirecTV has the Ka DBS liceense for both 99 and 103 which they're using for the MPEG4 HD system, they also have a Ka license at 101 which they are using for backhaul purposes.

Showtime to Add 8 HD Channels In August

Showtime says it will add eight new High-Definition channels in August, bringing its overall HD channel total to 12.

That's according to an article by Multichannel News.

Showtime officials also tell Multichannel News that it will add another 10 high-def channels by the first quarter of 2009.

I don't know. Some maybe outside of the broadcasting frequency range to be used for other things in the future?
