Hi i am wondering i heard that you can use the Directv Oval dish to pickup dishtv programiing on 119?
I thought the directv Dish is at 119? and i hooked it up and getting no signal at all.So i guess i would have to move it a little bits but just wondering if its already on 119 for Directv why will it not pickup dishtv at 119 by just leaving it alone???Johnny

First the question is what kind of recvr do you have? If the recvr that you have from dish are dish pro for example 301,501,508, mostly 3 digit numbers, they will not work with the direct tv lnbf. if these recvrs are legacy they should work, unless direct has went to another type of lnbf. They did work years ago together with legacy recvr, i had mine connected that way.

Update

I think the receicer is a 301 or a 311 i bought from Radio shack.
I see Directv is at 119 and so is Dishtv so i thought i would use my OLD directv OVAL dish with Directv 2 Rca LNBs on the dish. But for some reason i am not getting a Signal at all with the DishTv receiver.
I hooked up my old Directv Receiver and it works,so the LNBs are working on the OVAL dish.
I have been Useing my 10 foot C/KU band satellite dish to pickup DishTv.
I have been Useing a SONY Directv Lnb and it has Dual inputs on the LNB and hooked it up to the Feedhorn to my 10 foot dish and Duct tape is holding it on lol. and i have no problems picking up DishTv,Unhooked the Cable before and hooked up my Directv and it works also so i know both are at 119 and feel just swiching cables should work but does not for some reason.....

So Now i feel i should leave the dish alone i was going to move it a few inchs each way but i don't think it will work.
But maybe its the Sony LNB that was made for Directv about 7 years ago.I have a Dish dealer that said he will install a Dishtv 500 with 2 LNBs for around $150.But hate to pay that if its something simple, like on the Oval dish there are 4 cables coming out so i guess i can hookup 4 receivers, maybe that could be it.....Thanks for all of yea help i am sure someone can explan whats the problem...Johnny

With Legacy LNBs like old Dish and DirectTV you need 2 leads per satellite if you go to a multiple output switch. So that is not 4 outputs but 1 per satellite for each of 2 locations or a polarization for the switch. BTW DTV uses 101 and 119? while Dish uses 110 and 119 for its core and 119 has most of the basics but you will want 110 for some. The DTV dish may not do the skew needed for two Dish LNBs. An official dish shoulld be cheap. I think "Dual inputs" are outputs.

If you bought it new and have not had Dish before, the install should be low priced--see someone about Club Dish. You would get the dish, LNBs, Dish Pro DP21 or Legacy SW21 switches, and someone to point it, string cable, and get you going.

Try going to the point dish screen and with only one LNB select Dish 300. You may have to nudge the dish left or right, up or down. If that helps, then loosen the bolts and peak the dish. If you cannot get anything still, then you should reconsider your choice not to have it installed--I know, you like a challenge.

iluvmybrad: Yes, the 3-digit receivers will work with DP or Legacy.

I i think i am giving up,Called dishtv and they are giving me a HD receiver and a super dish with free install, but dishtv still owns the Recevier. but who really cares they are not charging me lol.
But i am Paying only 19.99 a month for 12 months and getting their HD channals 6 months for free and then $10 a month after that if i still want them....
Not bad but they are giving me Scranton Pa. Locals but i really want the NYC locals.I think i will wait a month and tell them i moved to NYC and then get their locals ...Johnny
