DirecTV HD DVR with HD to TV 2?

a friend asked me if D* has a DVR that will output HD to a second TV. I know very little about the D* lineup so i will ask here if there is such a DVR.

Both DISH and Directv receivers only have one HD output per receiver.

The closest thing is that all outputs are active so one TV could run HDMI and the other component and use an RF remote from the 2nd set.

Alternative is to check out Multi Room Viewing testing going on in the CE section. Using ethernet wired/wireless/powerline HD DVR's and HD non-DVR's that are network connected can view recordings from the HD DVR's.

You can output HD to a second TV but they will both get the same channel.

To control the HD receiver in the other room, I using one of those IR-->RF-->IR sets that I picked up at Radio Shack for around $40. Picked up an extra remote on eBay for about $8.

Got my HDMI cable at monoprice.com. They also have a model similar to the Radio Shack IR extender.

The H2X's can do RF remote but they don't ship with one, you need to buy one, about $25.00.

Your lucky then, or I'm unlucky, since none of my H2X's did, only the HR2X's.

I am PRETTY sure that at least one of the two H series that I had before did . I know I have at least 3 RF remotes in my house, and I have bought none

I have 1 HR22 and 2 H23 (non-dvr). The HR22 DVR did come with an RF remote. It's my understanding that ALL HD DVR's come with the RF remote and all the others come with an IR model.

Regardless, the RF remote doesn't have enough poop in it to reliably signal my receiver from another room and the Radio Shack model does. (IR--.RF--IR)

And yes, as someone else said, you can pick one up on ebay at a good price. I got what appears to be a brand new IR remote for less than $10 on ebay.

DIRECTV doesn't currently offer receivers that support multiple independent outputs be they SD or HD.
