What’s new on ViP622 DVR compared to DISH Player-DVR 942:
· MPEG-4
· Composite A/V & S-Video for TV1
· Ethernet port (for future use)
o Don’t connect the phone line to this port!
· Agile output can display both TV1 & TV2 programming
o TV1 UHF Pro remote control provides receiver operation from a distance.
· Combined Themes & Search screen
· DISH On Demand
o Put receiver in standby
o Content is 4x3 with no stretch choice
· TV1 Audio Sync
o Make selection based on VIDEO display, no matter which audio connection is used.
· HD Enabling
o See status in Sys Info
· Most iTV Apps expected at launch, and others will launch soon
· Two ViP622 DVR Remotes (one IR, one UHF Pro)
o Four colored DVR buttons
- For future iTV use
o White Recover button
o Easy Limited Mode programming
· Recommendation for SD TV1
o If TV1 is connected using SD outputs, use 4x3 #2.
- Maintains 16x9 aspect ratio on HD channels (bars on top and bottom)
- SD channels won’t have Format options
o If 16x9, “Normal” format is tall and thin on HD channels

Does all that mean you can no longer "stretch" 4:3 SD programming to fit 16:9 on a 622? I've never used this a whole lot, but seems like a big switch from previous HD receivers if true.

Is it possible to make anamorphic video to a DVD recorder of high definition programing such as a movie.

Can anyone elaborate on these changes:

Content is 4x3 with no stretch choice
Maintains 16x9 aspect ratio on HD channels (bars on top and bottom)
SD channels won’t have Format options

Specifically, do any of these changes mean that when outputing an HD channel or an SD channel via component or HDMI at 720 or 1080, the 5 stretch modes available on a 942 or 811 will not be available with the 622?

My TV won't do it with HDMI or component.

And I have the same burn-in issue with my CRT RP. But if it does support the non-stretched graybar 4:3 mode, then I would be okay.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to connect the s-video and then watch all SD 4:3 via s-video where I can employ the TV's stretch modes.

Anyone Have A 622 Yet???

211 ethernet port usage yet?
