I was quizzing the Dish CSRs today on my problem with transferring content from Hopper to EHD.
First one acknowledged the problem as know but no solution. Escalated level 2. They could not find the problem as known issue. During troubleshooting we started to copy some content (40 minutes worth) so she said call back when it was done and I would get straight to her. Well I called back and she was busy so I got routed to someone else who refused to connect me to the busy gal. She directed me to try a few things and we were able to discover why I was getting error messages at the end of a transfer. The two problems seemed to be recordings in progress won't transfer, and protected recordings wont transfer. I did not even know I could protect recordings on the Hopper. Now I do.
Next I asked if it was possible to connect the Hopper by Wifi instead of ethernet. She said sure and instructed me to plug the USB Wifi into the back USB port on the Hopper (why is there one on the front if they don't want you to use it), and push the WPS button on my router. I did and nothing happened, it timed out several times. So we tried the wizard. It worked fine and we got connected, but could not see my computer. She said I would have to trouble shoot the computer, the Hopper was working. I remembered something about booting the Hopper to get the network to see my computer before we moved. It worked. As soon as I said it worked CSR said goodby and hung up.
Lessons learned. I sometimes know more than I think I do, if I cna only remember it.
If I really want the answers, I am more likely to find them here than at Dish unless they have to push a button to make something work.
I hope one of the folks I spoke to actually escalated the transfer screen problem to the program engineers.
