I am going camping with my uncle this weekend and we want to get a setup going so we can watch football this weekend. He has an extra D12-100 receiver from his old lake house. We want to bring this with us but need to buy a dish and everything else needed to hook it up and get it to work.

Can anyone suggest what dish and equipment we need to buy.

I am technically inclined but new to DirecTV so please do not leave anything out as my uncle is older and I will have to hook everything up. Thanks in advance

Depending on what market you are in and if you want locals you would be fine with an 18" round or the larger 18x20" 3lnb dish.

Basic tailgate setup should include a compass, tripod, dish, and RG6 cable, plus your activated receiver of course.

If that receiver hasn't been activated in a while you may want to call now, they may have to ship an access card which takes a few days and cost $20.

Here is an example of a full setup:

Here is what you would need if your locals are on satellite 119:

might want to youtube a few videos of aligning the dish as well. generally, hitting the 101 isnt too hard.
