As far as HD lite , Well If E* starts running full Rez D* better look out. Because E* is only slightly worse, and not on every channel.

Honestly, it will probably be equal. Even now, UNLESS they are side by side, there is not a HUGE difference. Nor was there when D* was doing it. Most people would not notice the difference now unless looking for it. We do, because we are IMO

Yep and most of it has to do with bitrate and both providers have just about the same bitrate on all of thier channels. Size IE resolution only comes into play when you are viewing on larger screens that can take advantage of the resoultion.

On to the nascar homefront. IF nascar is coming back, the old hotpass deal is still on D*'s site and can easly be re added. They finally have added that the next race is in 12 days, wich has been chaged from a few days ago. It was blank.

The NASCAR thing muct have JUST been changed, I think I was at that location today (maybe yesterday) and it was blank as you said, but you would think if they are going to update the page, they could at least put up the correct info ....

Next race is the Daytona 500 6 days from now .

Do you have a link that shows the bitrates for the same content on both provider that shows they are just about the same?

I sim-pa-thighs

I understand when stuff is taken away it pisses you off. I am not a sports have in the least. I could care less if they never showed another baseball, football, nascar, or soccer event on any TV. Actually I make the perfect husband. My wife loves the fact I hate sports...LOL..But I do understand how mad you all are. I had my favorite programs taken away form me two times. First I was a VOOM satellite subscriber, VOOM went under and I lost all my channels and I was pissed with 2800 dollars spent on 4 VOOM HD boxes in 2003. Then in 2005 Dish Network (those POS) bought VOOM and used VOOM just to artifically add HD channels to their lineup. Just to say they had more HD than Comcast and directv. As soon as they had the bandwidth set they dropped all Voom channels too. I way so ***F'ing** mad it was unreal. I loved RUSH HD, Monsters HD and several other HD channels Treasures etc. Its how things work in this craping corporate world we live in. I wish you all the luck in the world in getting your HOTpass channels back up and running. I sincererly do hope all things work out for all of you. Its not right that they force us into a two year contract. They to me are breaking the contract when they remove programs that were the very reason we signed up to start with. There needs to be a clause in all these satellite contracts that can be added. You get to write down the reson you chose Dish, Directv, or etc. If the break their end of the contract, they you can break your end and leave without a issue (disconnect fee). Its not fair, its a one sided game. Say I went to Dish because they picked up Voom channels that I loved and Directv didnt have them. If Voom was dropped from Dishs lineup as it was over the summer, this is my clause to be able to break my contract and leave w/o any fees at all. If they can do this so can we its only fair. Its only fair though when it works in their favor, have you noticed that. This sux but what can we do besides complain. Nothing so I will complain and complain. I feel better now. :-)

Not buying the whole "DirecTV dropped the ball" BS as anything more than a continued exhibition of angst for this company no matter what ( a la Sony or MS); it simply seems they are just being more financially responsible. Its obvious the idea was not worth it and maybe their fans should have supported it more if it was that great. IMHO

The Daly Planet: DirecTV's "Hot Pass" Cancelled For 2009?

Being more financially responsible is an excuse. We all ready know if D* wanted to continue their relationship with nascar and provide the same programming they had, they could. Heck I have already pointed out that they could have up linked from the track to their very own birds instead of 3rd party birds and then back up. That for one would be a major cost saving step. Why uplink twice?

That's 1/2 of their cost there. The birds up there can care less where the signal is coming from, as long as they get it.

There is cost saving way's to do this without cutting the customer out. Like I said if it was that they had not enough customers for the package, then maybe they should have marketed the package better.

To me it seems like D* has gotten very cheap and is looking to sell or merge. Remember when E* was looking to be bought out via ATT. During those 6 months of 2008 Echostar halted all things and did what exactly d* is doing today. I really wish that these company would learn that when they do this, it actually turns buyers away. When a company has forward momentum and is adding channels left and right along with value added programming like hotpass, it makes their company more valuable and worth more.

You cant link stuff like that. Just because YOU cant see it, doesn't mean that it isnt there. ;) Do you have a link to prove otherwise? I bet you don't! :D Trust me when I say that they are close, they are.

Why should I trust you, sorry but unless there's some proof that folks can see it's just you saying it. There's lots of folks that 'say' things on the net when are inaccurate, just being a mod doesn't make you any different.

I can say that using network playback of HD content on D* for MPEG4 channels I'm seeing around 16Mbps. I see this via the stats on my router looking at before and after TX/RX rates. Some of that's going to be IP overhead so I'd guess around 14Mbps range, which IMHO isn't bad for a MPEG4 HD stream.

Prove it!;) What you just stated is no different then what I stated. Or anyone else about E*vs D* in PQ. What because you came up with a Number thats make your opinion more believable then ours. NOT!

Yea well E* running 18 Mbps , Sorry I can't prove it though.:p But my Number is higher then yours so thats good enough.

I have to say, Hemi makes a good point Rad. :)

I am not saying your info is wrong or right, but I would be suprised if they were putting mpeg 4 out at that bit rate. I guess it is possible though

By the way, I am getting mine at 1Mbps higher than the rest of you, so mine will always look better;)

As for how the nascar coverage is this season, I can not say. I have not seen what it is they are going to be doing. I do know that what I saw of Hotpass last year was impressive though. I hate that they changed it for those that liked it

I had it the last 2 years.
The first year it had a lot of flaws. But I got a good deal on it.
Last year was better, but 5 drivers a week isn't enough, when Dale Jr is on there atleast 2 times a month. They need atleast 10 driver channels. IMO, Audio for atleast 25 drivers. And since your paying a subscription charge, I shouldn't have to what the race with no sound in a tiny box ,while there is a loud commercial over 3/4 of the TV screen. If D* and Nascar would agree to this I would pay $100 for the season, Not a Penny more. Fox,Speed,TNT do a good enough job already for free.

Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:devil::devil:
