The planted CSI spinoff will join offshoot NCIS: New Orleans on the CBS schedule next season. CSI: Cyber was not on the list of four drama pilots picked up to series by CBS earlier today but as we reported, the project was in final negotiations for a pickup, which now has become a reality.

Peter MacNicol has joined "CSI: Cyber" as a series regular, CBS announced Friday. MacNicol will play Assistant Director Stavros Sifter, a career FBI insider and supervisor of Special Agent Avery Ryan for the Cyber Crime Division in Washington, D.C.

He will play FBI Agent Elijah Mundo, an expert in battlefield forensics recruited by Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette). Mundo is a savant when it comes to weaponry, vehicles, and bombs. A self-proclaimed action junkie, Agent Mundo will often put himself at risk to seek permanent justice while Ryan will level his diehard behavior with her expertise in psychology.
