Court tv?

Court TV

Ah, the old "I don't watch it so it's not a big deal" response. I can't wait until Charlie pulls this act on a channel that those folks like to view and see if they still don't think it's a big deal.

Rad, I agree with you, it is a big deal to me and others that we lost Court tv. we watch it regularly and I want it back even if it means paying a little more for it.

They did, it happened with the Viacom mess. I was pissed and I called Dish 5-6 times a day and a couple of hours after I scheduled my Directv installation, an announcement was made an agreement was reached so I canceled the D* install.

I understand the people that might be upset with this, but I have to say I'm with Charlie on this again. And yes, I've had mine taken off also (Daily Show on Comedy). Dish is the ONE company I ever see standing up to the content providers. They are not NEAR as important as they think they are, and Dish lets them know it from time to time. Like me, you might miss a few episodes of some show you like(and I'll bet it'll be back in a couple of weeks tops), but overall it will benefit all the customers of Dish. Some of you might be willing to pay more for it, but it's not just you that pays, it's all of us that DON'T watch the station that pay. Now if we could get get them to REALLY stand up to the NHL, NFL and the rest of those crooks that make up a good portion of our rates....

I 'm supporting Charlie 100% on this one.Just because I am with another provider
does not mean I cannot support Charlie. What happens with DISH programming has a direct reflection on the programming I buy.So I will just say"Go get'um Charlie we're with you"!.:)

That goes right to my "user fee" idea..If one wishes to get a particular service, then let them pay for it....I don't see why all viewers should have to subsidize a service that few people watch regularly...Court tv is a cool channel but I can live without it...

I have never once contacted E* and complained about them dropping channels for better pricing. And over my 8+ years, this has happened a number of times.

There are a lot of channels to watch, I'm not married to any of them.

Drop the channels and still raise the rates. Nice!

The world could end tomorrow, the rates would still increase. Just because DISH decides it's no longer dealing with a particular network any longer or vice versa doesn't mean the cost of doing business has dropped any. It just means that's one less bill Charlie has to keep track of, but it also puts a slash into his income that that network generated. If you lose what you would have gained, you're back to 0, so why would you change your business plans?

Why only Dish Network?

I was wondering if anyone else knows why ONLY Dish Network was singled out to be "picked on" by Court TV? I wrote to both of them and Dish says Court TV was being unreasonable. Maybe that is true, maybe it's not, but I find it strange that no other satellite company or cable company had any problems retaining Court TV. That was my favorite channel and where I live unfortunately has no other options for satellite companies and NO cable available in our area. :(

This is happening all over the place with greedy channel owners, are local cable comapny is ina sqaublle with a couple of stations because that want twice as much to carry the station in HD. Give then a few weeks before you panic. If Dish wants to pressure them to hold down rates, I say good deal. If Dish is trying to keeps profits to a max so their own interest is top priority, then that sucks.

The Science Channel is the only reason why I am forced to subscribe to the AT250 package. :(

Its always UNFAIR for this renegade company, Echostar. Court was UNFAIR, OLN is UNFAIR, COURT TV is UNFAIR......Damn....its DISH that is UNFAIR.

As I recall the OLN problem, at least in part, was OLN wanted to be put on the lower priced plans and E* did not want to do that.
In the end as soon as the Stanly Cup playoffs strted they settled and OLN stayed on the 180 package.
I don't know about prices but it sure looks as thought Charlie won that round.
I bet that Charlie wins this one too.

DISH is not being picked on.Court TV is asking for a rate increase that Charlie feels
is unreasonable. It is amazing that you cannot get DirecTV but if you want the lowest price on the Family Pak and the AT 60 or the most HD then DISH is your answer.
On the bright side normally after a little time somebody will blink and the channel restored.Good Luck!:welcome

Future announcement: Great news!!! We have Court TV back and you only have to pay $10/month more starting in February. You will also be getting several new foreign language stations you will have no interest in, or be able to understand.

More likely:

GREAT NEWS!!! We have reached a deal with CourtTV, and starting immediately, it's available in the AT250 package, so just upgrade and you get your channel back!

Seriously, however, I believe this channel will be back in a matter of days. Since Dish hasn't made their price increase public yet, they would be foolish to be in the middle of a negotiation war when they also stick their customers with a rate increase. No way this lasts more than a week.

I wonder the same. Why is only Dish Network having an issue with them or is it one of those things where it is Dish Network first then it will be others later? We are paying for the channel whether it is on the air or not - or in other words, the service costs us the same amount whether we have the channel or not. Sure we are gaining Hallmark Movie Channel in its place but I think that was planned on being added and probably part of that price increase we are going to see whether CourtTv was going to be removed or not. More money for Charlie and Co. if the channel is not on so he probably stands to gain more than he will lose by not having that particular channel on. It is not so much of a mainstream channel like some of the others that were threatened to be dropped in the past were.

If Dish Network is fighting to keep our prices down by dropping channels unless they can get a good enough deal then how come are our rates still going to be increase as much as they are? I do not hear about other providers such as Directv having as many issues as Dish with some channels yet their rates seem to be in line with Dish Network. It seems to me like its about Charlie wanting to make more per sub, not to keep our rates down. I do believe ultimately it would affect our rates if they ask for too much of an increase.
