I currently have a 722k and a 722 with a total of 4 televisions attached. I learned the hard way that the 722k actually has 3 tuners (due to the broadcast channels capability) and the 722 only has 2 tuners. Based on this I currently can record 5 different programs at the same time. After talking with the customer service/sales people at Dish I came to the realization that the 6 tuner Hopper is actually 3 tuners plus "Prime Time Live" for a total of 6 programs recorded at once. I am preparing to add a 5th television and I do not want to lose functionality hence the plan for 2 Hoppers and 3 Joeys.
The 5th television is not setup yet so I can hold off on the upgrade. Does it make more sense to wait for the Super Joey and do some combination with that or will I still need 2 Hoppers to support the 5 total televisions?
My reason for seriously considering the upgrade now is that Dish is offering me some significant incentives to not move to DTV and the Genie. The DTV guy was at my local Costco and had a serious package that would give me 5 TVs on one Genie and because of Costco it is all free plus a cash back gift card. I think that I want to stay with Dish but the DTV package is very tempting and Dish was not originally willing to upgrade me without additional cost.
What do you folks think?
