Ok this is strange. I have 4 Dish Network receivers, 3 622's and one 722. 3 of of them are now hooked up to broadband internet. The fourth one (the 722) is connected via DishCOMM to one of the other 622's.

The receivers which are hooked up to the broadband can access DishOnline and I can view the lists of movies.

However on those three receivers when I turn on the TV's I am sometimes warned that I must hook a phoneline up to avoid an additional tuner fee.

Isn't the broadband supposed to be so you don't need to be hooked up to a phone line?

Also on the unit which is hooked up via DishComm its can't browse DishONLINE. Isn't it supposed to be able to?

Just wondering.

Wonder if it is just a software glitch in the sense that the "one hand" (broadband) doesn't tell the "brain" that the other hand (phone line) isn't needed??

Or something along that line.

Regarding the notice that you need to connect the phone line, I sometimes get that if I reset the router or there is some other kind of network interruption. Even when I get that message and I then go to the broadband setup I have an IP and it says "Connected Online" so I know it's just some intermittent thing that happens some times.

As for DishComm sharing DishOnline from a connected receiver to a non-connected receiver, I don't think that is something that has been implemented.

I sometimes get the same message on my 622 connected via Homeplug. I just think that it tries to connect, fails, then the message pops. It normally disappears the next day. They should just update the message to say phone line or Ethernet, then tell you if you are connected to make sure your internet is working.

Dishcomm, ethernet, and the dual tuner $5 fee
