They are using HD cameras right now. The hold up is time in the studio. CBS says they will need 6-8 weeks to bring the studio to HD standards and Dave is unwilling to leave the studio for that long.

CBS has offered to move him to LA or put him on the road for the time and so far, Dave has said no.

I read somewhere on the CBS website that they have trailers setup outside for the crew so they can convert the studio to HD.

I watched Conan in HD last night but it didnt seem like HD..The show stayed in 4:3 but just had black bars on the top and bottom along with the sides..

Is it just me?

When you guys watched conan was the screen full?

Sounds like a problem with your local station. WNBC out of NY
had HD while my local had SD for one of the prime time shows.

I saw him via OTA antenna Thursday night and it was definitely full screen HD.
