Please pardon my ignorance. I understand "Commercial skip feature is available at varying times, starting the day after airing, for select primetime shows on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC recorded with PrimeTime Anytime."

Can one fast-forward (not "autohop") through/past commercials on the DVR?

Also, "Dish offers a wide array of programs that allow you to skip all the advertisements once you save them to your DVR, however, this doesn’t apply to all programming. To know which shows you can program for the AutoHop option, look for the red kangaroo icon next to the show’s title, as this will be a sure sign that you can use AutoHop." Is there any way to determine specifics in this regard prior to signing up?

Thanks.

On regular DVR recordings, you can skip the commercials by either fast-forwarding or using the skip buttons. Skip forward is 30 seconds and skip backwards 10 seconds. Typically when I get to a commercial on a recording I’ll hit the skip forward button eight times which is a four minute jump and then just try to figure it out from there. You may have to go for a little more you may have to go back in touch. Most programs have the same length break for all of their commercials.

Thanks. Still feeling a little ignorant. Can one do a "regular DVR recording" of a CBS show, for example, where autohop has been disabled (for a period of time, i.e., "wait for at least a day")?

Thanks again!
