I agree with that. PPV is a total waste period. but thats a whole other discussion, which was an extremely long thread on one of these borads already.
true.

Perhaps I should clarify. All of the older HD channels that are mirrored on the upper channel numbers are mpeg 4, the lower are mpeg 2, and THOSE, by many accounts are going to be phased out.
Perhaps I should clarify. All of the older HD channels that are mirrored on the upper channel numbers are mpeg 4, the lower are mpeg 2, and THOSE, by many accounts are going to be phased out. And again, those are the only mpeg 2 HD left on D*. The rest is mpeg 4
That is correct. They are trying to get everyone swapped over to mpeg 4 capable receivers.these are for those who are still holding on to their old tivos and at the same time are missing out on all the new HD channels. time to move on.
speaking of moving on, my grandma still watches TV with rabbit ears only but still hasnt gotten her digital convertor box installed. but i guess thats common with the elderly, just cant adapt to new technology. I still got a VCR though and I actually used it the other day so I shouldnt talk.
Someone in the know has posted on another site that those three MPEG2 channels will be shut down sometime in February and the remaining MPEG2 HD channel will be following shortly thereafter.actually all that channel 77 says is that Universal HD, Showtime and HDNet are "moving to new satellites", nothing about MPEG-2 / MPEG-4 or channels being deleted.
well like I've said before, I dont go by what some supposed "insider" said on a forum, I go by press releases and official published reports from industry sites like broadcastignandcable.com and multichannel.com.
I bet these supposed "insiders" are actually just D* system installers.
Hope you're not too disappointed then when the channel goes blank and then those sites say that today DirecTV shutdown those channels. Actually that source is a DirecTV employee that has provided info and helped folks with issues that an installer can't do. But you're allowed your opinion, just don't be mad when it happens and you say nobody told you.
I agree.:upThis person Rad is referring to has been an excellent reliable source in the past and has helped us D subs with good info.

I'll be glad when they ALL get removed. frees up bandwidth for more NATIONAL HD channels.
We're not talking about wikipedia.not true. websites report things weeks in advance and they have actually been confirmed by DirecTV themselves. if you try to post something on Wikipedia and put a forum thread as your source theyll take it down in a second.
Also, Scott (not the person you are talking about I know) is a contributor to one of the sites he mentioned. We're not talking about wikipedia.
Trust me when we say the source/person we are referring to is much more reliable and even posts things before these websites you are referring to (before any confirmation can be made).
you mean Scott Greczkowski of "The Satellite Dish blog" (The Satellite Dish | Blog on Multichannel News | 205) on Multichannel.com? I've read that and he talks about Dish Network way more than DirecTV. Have I discovered the true identity of "satracer"
