Com-on Dish add some more real HD!

I considered switching but spending $200 to get a DVR and a higher monthly fee to gain 2-3 channels I may watch hardly seems worth it. Aside from primtime tv and kids channels for my daughter I think the only other channels we watch are Monsters, Food Network, and whatever channel has Flip this House (wife watches it). Cartoon Network HD and Disney Channel HD would be nice when they finally have HD content but for now it is like watching Simpsons on Fox Local HD.... pillarboxed sh*t.

I'm sure I'll regret this but can you post a link that defines and explains HD lite?

Uh oh :D

Dont remember the numbers but the simple answer is that the difference is the number of horizontal pixels. 1900-something vs 1100-something. I think. So less resolution. Some say they notice the difference. Others say they dont. My opinion is that most HD source material probably wouldnt really take advantage of the full resolution anyway because of simple economics. Garbage in garbage out. But I am just Joe Schmoe and not an expert.

So you say tomato and they say tomato?

It can refer to a few different things. Cutting the resolution of the feed, overcompression, or both. Most generally use it when a providers HD doesnt look up to snuff

Just ordered DISH - What should I look out for?
