Haven't heard anything back from my email. I also noticed that the problem is still not fixed. I was watching 19 earlier this evening and the issues are still present.

I haven't heard anything from my email either. I do know my CSI Miami was all screwed up!!!

Were either of you able to talk to the Engineer ?
I would try calling again and maybe send your email again as well, also send an email to the station directly and have them fwd it to the Chief Engineer.

Nope, I haven't heard anything. Maybe they are too preoccupied with their big digital tv switch test tonight to respond or care.

Or maybe this issue you guy's are have is something that they are trying diligently to fix ....

Or MAYBE, the trouble is related to something to do with the TEST tonight.
Just curious, are all the networks running this test tonight ?

Just chiming into say I had the pixelation problem last Sunday too here in Lyndhurst, OH. Haven't tuned into WOIO to see if it has gotten better as I watch Channel 19 only twice a week. (Once on Sunday and the other for "How I met your Mother").

This weak signal problem on 19 is nothing new. It has been ongoing forever with me in N. Ridgeville. My OTA setup consists of a combo UHF/VHF antenna and a Channel Master UHF only 4228 I believe. Separate RG6 lead-ins and Channel Master pre-amps for both. Can ocassionally receive 19, but not very often. Don't think that last night's so-called test had anything to do with the problem. They are just weak, period!!!

Left another message with Bob today. It was bad last night also. My Criminal Minds is all jacked up. I will shoot another email today.... with pictures.

------------------ UPDATE DEC 18th 2008 11:49am ------------------

Just got a call from Bob at Channel 19 WOIO. He said that he has been getting a lot calls about this problem for several weeks now. And that the problem is on
D* Receiver end from the station. He has called D* about this problem and a crew was suppose to be dispatched to take a look at it. He said he does not know
why it is taking them so long. So now it is on D*. But the signal going to them from WOIO is stable and strong.

That may be true, but he still has local issues as FAYRICH just pointed out, he's using OTA equipment and has the trouble, I would think it still is on the local stations side.
IF you talk with him, ask him if it's a D* problem, why is it happening to those with OTA antenna as well.
I would hold him to that.

Think that Bob at CH 19 is just blowing so much smoke. As previously stated, I have had this problem forever in N. Ridgeville. The only time that I was able to get a half way reliable signal was when I was using a special "cut" antenna for CH 10. I eventually eliminated it because having 3 stacked antennas was just too much. TW cable in my area even has trouble from time to time holding a stable signal. And you know that they are using the very best available receiving equipment. Don't understand why Ch 19 just won't own up to their shortcomings.

Yes, the issues are back. It makes the channel unwatchable. Can't believe nothing has been done to permanently fix this issue! Especially since the nfl playoffs will be starting!

I would continue to contact the station regarding it and see if they give you a time that it will be fixed or approximate ..
IF it was a D* issue, the others in your area that are getting it OTA would not be having the problem. They will try to blame whoever they can to get you to go another route.

Here's what Bob at WOIO wrote to me...
"Yes direct TV has been aware of a problem with their receive system for at least 2 weeks. They have not given me a concrete time table for the fix. I believe they need to bring someone in from out of town to fix the receive equipment.

Our signal over the air has no problem and we can't control their receive systems that are here in town."

They are stalling with you, if others ARE having the issue with OTA , that is entirely separate from D* then you know it's NOT a D* problem.
Unless something very weird is going on.
Did you ask him to explain why those using OTA antenna were having the trouble as well ?
Unless it's a piece of equipment that goes BEFORE it leaves and then goes to D* as well as OTA, but it's still something that has to be done at the station level.
I'm still wondering if they have any time frame that they need to boost their signal, unless it's not a channel that is effected by the digital conversion.

As I have said before, this is just so much BS!!

Once the transition takes place, the stations will no longer be able to run at half power, maybe that will help your channel 19, or maybe they just don't have the power needed to send thier signal out, but you would think that it would be fixed when the transition takes place, when all stations are required to be at a usable power level.
