Checking signal strength.

I see references to testing signal strength for satellites and/or specific channels. How is this done?

You can check the signal levels for your dishes by going to Menu, 6, 1, 1. In that screen you can select which satellite and transponder you want to check.

For 119 and 110 we use transponder 11 because they are both conus. If you go to your Spotbeam, that transponder will always be high. According to Dish Network anything over 70 is good but in my book I want to see 80s and more. This will reduce rain fade, the higher the signal the less rain fade you will have.

and if you want to check signal strength for a particular channel, turn on the channel, then go to the signal strength menu and it should be on whatever satellite and transponder that channel is on
