Charter launching TNT HD

Jeff Baumgartner, CED

Charter Communications has reached a deal to offer the high-definition television feed of Turner Network Television (TNT).

Charter, which will offer TNT's East Coast feed, said launch dates of the service will vary by market. TNT broadcasts its HD feed in 1080i format and uses Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.

"TNT in HD is a quality addition to our high-definition line-up," said Charter SVP of Programming Sue Ann Hamilton, in a release. "Customers who have purchased HD television sets are clamoring for more HD content. TNT in HD will help us respond to that customer demand."

Depending on the market, Charter also offers HD feeds from programmers such as HBO, Showtime, HDNet and ESPN, among others.
