Charlie Chat Tonight

Dish posted these photos to their Twitter feed.

Here is the Studio and a video from Charlies seat. I never realized Charlie had Teleprompters. :)

Actually Primeval will be finishing up it season and it will be the premiere of the 3rd season of Torchwood and the Doctor Who specials

BBC always edited Torchwood, removing adult content, and then it was shown unedited on HDnet.

In these days of the Internet, BBC America needs to:

- show same week as BBC UK, if not same day

and

- show the same version shown on BBC (adding commercials is expected and acceptable as long as content is removed)

otherwise people will just get it on the Internet, as the first season of Doctor Who revival was one of the most widely downloaded programming of all time.

Quad Cities were announced in December of 2008 as to be uplinked in Feb. or Mar. so dont get too excited

You were right .... 6 of the eight announced are coming July 1st! What is the problem? Lots of smaller markets getting added before the Quad Cities. Getting really frustrated watching the slide with our locals coming and then never happening. Wonder what the problem is .... it was originally announced in November! Direct has had our locals up overa year.

A new Turner mux showed up on Galaxy 14 Cband about two weeks ago. Channels included in the mux were TCM HD, TruTV HD and a slot for Headline News HD. I don't have any information on when the official launch might be or if Dish will add them.

I think the biggest news was that if you have a missing network, either by disagreement, by your DMA just not having one or you are out of ota range, you can get a distant network through AAD beginning Saturday.

THE RULES CHANGE with the digital transition.

Sort of like Charlie saying screw you to Fisher Broadcasting.

If your local station plays too much hardball Charlie does an alley-oop over their head.

Local RSN?

On the chat it was mentioned that the local RSN is included in x,y and z packages, but for $5.99 you could add the sports package and get your local rsn...Is this NEW? Can you now add the $5.99 sports pack to HD Absolute or any other previously ineligible programming package and thereby get your local rsn???

It's possible that has been true all along.

Multi-Sports includes all the RSNs in both SD and HD for $5 per month.

The only caveat is that pro sports are blacked out according to the blackout rules. But your local RSN should never be blacked out from you, since it would not be blacked out according to the rules.

It's possible that a blackout can occur on a local RSN such as when another carrier purchases the rights to broadcast that game such as ESPN or a network. Not usually a big deal because affected people usually just tune in to the local affiliate or ESPN, etc. but it becomes a big deal for someone who set a timer on the RSN so they can watch the game later only to find they've recorded 3 hours of "THIS GAME IS NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA".
