Ceil 2 is Alive and Powerful

Ok , Sorry for the misunderstanding then. My apologies to the poster. I guess it must have been the heck of a day for me today, lol.

Just out of Curiosity (my tv provider is Bell TV) , Did DN adjusted the footprint just to cover USA and not Canada like Bell TV did with the recently launched Nimiq 4 that only covers now Canada and not the US?. In our case signal levels went even to 100 in most Tp's. How come is not the case with the new Ciel 2? Or are they just fine tuning and eventually will happen.

Actually DN didn't. Ciel designed the satellite with two different usable wide area beams. One covers the US, and one covers Canada and part of the North US. Check back in this thread I posted maps of both beams.

What dish are you using for 129? Seems like tp 32 is one of the highest one from early reports.

It's the strongest because the receiver uses a type of quality meter not just strength. That TP is a 5/6 FEC QPSK modulation unlike the others using a 8PSK 2/3 FEC, so at the same power it has a higher quality resulting the increase "signal strength" on the receivers meter.

Thank you for the explanation. On another note, TP1-16 are still coming from E5 right? I checked my signals on those TPs and they're still very low.

Question about 129 current signal strengths...just my vague recollection, but didnt E11 at 110 start out with lower signal strengths, and then they amped it up once they had it set up properly? Not sure why I recall it that way, and the reason I'm asking is that I'm wondering (hoping) if stronger signal strengths at 129 may be coming our way over the next few weeks...(not that I'm complaining, but I get better SS from E11) ?

Now is the time to just report signal strengths and watch. The readings now will be useful but expecting any completeness now is way to early. Many transponders are not even on Ciel-2 yet.

I realize that, however I felt like pointing out that C2 SS may end up even better (or worse), so dont take any of what we're currently seeing as what we'll necessarily end up with.

tps 1-15, 16 are still coming from the hunk-o-junk sat.

Note that on Ciel-2 , 1-16 are spot beams and so you will never get a good signal on 1-16, in fact, you will know that the E*5 is gone when you get no signal on 1-16...

PS to forestall the pedantic posters, of course, if you are inside a spot beam, you will get a signal...

I'd say...

at this point in time they haven't played with the locals and the spotbeams on tps 1-16. Still the old hunk-o-junk stuff, however, as someone pointed out perhaps showing a stronger signal since the national HD has been moved.

maybe im not reading this correctly

EKB: Dish Network Channels at 129°

but i only see local channels on ciel II, so all the national channels are still on E5.

Therefore repointing it to 119 would not be a good idea for nationals would it ?

Do not depend on a web page being accurate.

That page is updated manually by volunteers, it has occasional errors and the webmaster may not have had time to update the information.

on that chart, does that mean all those channels on C-II are available now? I can now "move" to a location now and it will be available?
The local channels listed on Ciel-2 are not available. If they were available, they would be on a spotbeam, precluding you from receiving most of them. The chart is not up to date. Look in the header here for a link to TheList!

Ok, I haven't had time to check the receivers but not all the current HD channels have been moved to Ciel 2, correct?

I still saw Travel HD coming from TP7 which is still coming from Hunk-o-Junk. :)

Ok thanks, i looked at the list and it doenst tell me if it's e5 or ciel 2 does it ?

so my original questions still stands on the suggestion that repointing at 119 now as that is the weakest bird will give a generally better reception. It seem it wont all the while i have many of my nationals on e5 but that is what i was asking clarification on.
Mainly because i get pixelation on some channels and was wondering if I should do this now or wait

Spots being turned on, I think.

It looks like C-II's spots are being turned on now. Big changes from the other night at about the same time. Odessa, TX #'s

At least some of these are still conus, other are now spots. So how soon will it be figured out which spots are are pointed where?
