Ceil 2 is Alive and Powerful

I would hate to lose the locals, but if it means I have access to a ton of new HD I'll be packing. I still have the OTA channels.

Pack up the UHaul then ;) Be careful before you do though as you are on fringe so any wobble could affect you. The CONUS folks wouldn't see it but you might.

Looks like I won't be moving. I took my receiver to the dealer and I'm able to get the premium HD channels(HBO, sports) in the clear. The channels that are red are Toon, Lifetime, Etc. I'm assuming that these will be added later on the spotbeams, but all of the regional sports networks and NBA League Pass channels may not be. I'll be getting my dishes repointed "soon".

Let us know if this works for you. I may have to do a repoint too since I'm also using a 6 ft. dish for 110 that could be easily swung over to 129 and a 36" added for 110. Good Luck.:D:D

They may make it out today, I'll let you know as soon as they do. One of the installers said he has been using a 30" dish for 110 with no problems.

I posted my results in the Uplink Center.

Some of my transponders are quite a bit lower that the local dealer's, but I'm still able to view the channels on them. All of the HD sports and premium channels that I subscribe to are in the clear. The ones that are red are (Toon, Hist, Etc.). I'm not sure I want to call and see if they'll turn them on, they may turn the others off.

Sounds good! Hope you can keep the signals. I wouldn't call either, they'd probably say you weren't authorized and find some way to shut them off. I'll probably swing mine over in the spring when the ground can be dug again for a new post. Thanks for the info and let me know if any difficulties arise. :D:D

I bet you would have to "move" to the lower 48 to get the rest of the HD channels. You would lose locals but you would gain a good bit of HD.

How soon before they start adding HD content to the Alaska spotbeams? Right now I'm feeling pretty good, just added sixteen HD premium channels and most of the regional sports. I was able to watch NBA League Pass games in HD last night!

You probably have more now than when they add to the AK spot beam, whenever they decide to launch it. What package do you subscribe to? America's everything? Do you receive the local HD channels over air?

I get America's everything with local channels, regional sports, NBA, and I also get the local channels OTA.

I would expect them to add some of the HD channels we don't currently get in the 5500 range, some premiums(HBO), Fox NW, and maybe the NHL/NBA packages. I don't think they'll add all of the regional sports, so the larger dish helps in getting those.

Unfortunately, we seem to be pretty low on Dish's priority list......they still have uplinked channels on the 110 AK spotbeam (Toon, APL, Bravo, ABCFM) that they haven't made available to us.
I'm still perplexed as to how they are choosing the HD channels that are placed on the AK/HI spots, as they gave us TWC (there's a HD channel I will never watch) rather than something like Discovery.

I would swap those two also.

With channels on 110,119 and 129 soon, I wonder what Dish will do for new and existing customers up here?

Yes, we really need TWC to tell us it's cold outside!! I've never seen
Ak mentioned except in passing one day, when we were as warm as it was in Florida. I think they give one's based on how cheap they are to get. Why not the rest of HBO in HD and the other Premiums that are HD. We pay for them. In reality we are subsidizing the rest of subscribers to these services. :(

Thinking about coming back to dish
