"All four of the NFL's network partners have bid on the Thursday night television package, a person with knowledge of the bidding process told the Associated Press on Sunday."

The AP story adds: "The league has used its NFL Network to televise the games, but recently put up the 13-game series for bids and received them from NBC, Fox, CBS and ESPN. ... Turner Sports has also bid, and there's a strong possibility ESPN would put the games on ABC should it be chosen by the league."

Can't wait to see what the final price will be. Either way, sports costs will continue to go through the roof and consumers will have to pay through the nose.

Hmm, don't forget NBCSN, and Fox Sports1, both who would gain stature by carrying NFL games....

The money has to be good for them to give up the most compelling reason to watch NFL Network. I occasionally watch a few of their analysis shows or NFL films specials but I could definitely do without NFL Network if I can get all the live games in a lower programing package.

An estimated additional $400M, plus keeping a simulcast on NFLN? I'd say that's pretty good....

Yeah, I'm sure they will do fine. They always do. I just won't worry about making sure I have NFL Network anymore for their simulcast if all the games are available in a lower package.

My guess is they're going for putting 1 new game on Monday and 1 new game on Friday, as it's beyond the window that they're banned from televising on Friday nights, this could be the NFL first crack at having a Friday night game.

Not going all the way to 16 still allows them to reward the top seed with a bye week, plus there's really no where to put 2 more games that won't conflict with other games, beyond 1 ea on Fri & Mon.

NFL may expand playoffs to include Friday and Monday night games...Commissioner Roger Goodell said playoffs may expand to include 14 teams.

This is a TERRIBLE Idea ...

How much more can Goddell ruin the game ?

How long till his contract is up and who is it that determines who the commish is, is that the Owners, or the Owners and Players assoc.

Don't we already have enough 8-8 teams potentially in the playoffs ?
Now you could have more ? or even an under .500 team in the playoffs ...

I think it should be on cable on Thursdays. I think the NFL coverage is over saturated, but I might be in the minority. I watched only one playoff game and really don't care about games that don't involve the Chiefs.
