CBS' Jericho: A Familiar Story

Yeah, the story has been a little weak. I had high hopes for this show. The one thing I do like is that we have been getting some back stories of the characters but its not enough to make up for certain elements of the show.

What happend to the Radiation Fallout. Was it just one Rainy day and that's it... I mean shouldn't these people do some research about the implications of detonating an atomic bomb and the consequences... WTF? is this fantasy land of the "day after".....

Actually they have this right. Based on the info we learned last week, that the cities were leveled by ground based 20KT nukes (this is Nagasaki level, not anything close to a "big" bombs in the MT range we have today), then there wouldn't be significant fallout to worry about a few hundred miles away from the explosion. Even with a dozen or so bombs all going off around the country, it still wouldn't have a huge impact at that low of a yield.

Read up on the Castle Bravo experiment to see what a "real" weapon will do. It was a rather dirty explosion of over 1000x the power of the bombs used in the show. And while traces of it were detected around the world, the worst effects of a deadly nature were seen only within 300 or so miles.

Whoever was on the recieving end of the ICBMs we saw launched, each likely armed with multiple MT warheads, would have been hit far far worse than what the US got in the show.

I wouldn't want to be eating varous foods that concentrate heavier elements (various fish, etc) in the future, but otherwise the situation is plausible enough.

According to a CBS press release, Jericho will air repeat-free in this, its freshman season, albeit with a hitch: the drama will take a 10-week breather after staging a cliffhanger finale on Nov. 29, then return with all-new (and nothing-but-new) episodes on Feb. 21, 2007, starting with a flashback to how life was in Jericho pre-nuclear attack. During the hiatus, fans can find new, Jericho-related content at CBS.com, and streamings of episodes aired to date at Innertube.

Filling Jericho's Wednesdays-at-8 time slot during the month of December be double helpings of The King of Queens, which premieres its ninth season on Dec. 6. As for what happens come January, when the King scales back to single-episode outings, CBS says an announcement will be made at a later date.

would have exploded if I was Hawkins, but he did the right thing and is above all suspicion now...

Yeah, but he's no more an FBI agent than I am. ;)

Very true... But Anderson bought it... I think last weeks episode was a "set up" episode with Emilys fathers thugs... I think from seeing next weeks promo's that maybe they will come into play and help save Jericho... (or maybe thats for the Cliffhanger)

I don't know if it's a bad idea or not. HBO and Sci-Fi channel have been doing this for years with success.

These shows are expensive. There are only 22-26 episodes of the show a year. That means there are 26-30 weeks (minus the occassional special event) where you would normally have re-runs! Most can now catch reruns whenever they want on the net or DVD eventually.

So why not have the show on hiatus when statistically there are many, many less eye-balls watching?

Finally watched this weeks episode. I agree that this weeks was much better, a little suspense, a little violence, etc. Hope this is a sign of good things to come.
