Carson Palmer's big mouth

If I recall, last January you ran everyone off when every they mentioned the Bucks, with your "Your teams better than" attitude.

Jimbo

Just for the record Jimbo, while there may have been others, I've never had that attitude. In fact, if you recall, you sent me a personal email when you were all lathered up after the MNC commending me for saying that tOSU played better than what others were suggesting. I was on here saying that the game was a lot closer than it looked. And as I recall, "everyone" didn't run off, just you. Maybe that has to do more with your attitude than anyone else's? :)

I apologize if I've ever supported my team in a manner that offends you, but I'm sure it was while having fun and trying to be humorous - which I've noticed you fail to understand at times. For the most part, I think I've been more realistic than some when cheering my team on. Hell, I remember once when Paul replyed to one of my posts with "support your team!" (or something like that). And for the record, I don't expect LSU to have anything close to the year they had last season, and I'm nervous about that first game against App. St (as I posted that I was before being told to be by Sabrestool).

If my posting comments, pictures and articles supporting my team makes you respond with posts like above, then that's something that I can't control. But it does support my opinion that Buckeye fans I have met are overly and unhumorously sensitive, so thanks for that.

I love this thread.

It doesn't snow much in Columbus in November does it?

Is it better to play football in the heat or in the cold?

I can't imagine sitting in the swamp in September, let alone playing down there.

I can remember an SEC Championship in Birmingham, that was cold. I think the SEC moved it to ATL after that.:)

I have seen some nasty UT/UK games in November, but it is usually rain.

Didn't the Bucs beat the Eagles in Philly the season they won the Super Bowl?

And don't forget the Falcons handing it to the Packers during the playoffs in a snowstorm at Lambeau a few years back.

I've never understood it when fans say "I'd like to see you play up here in the freezing weather" or things to that effect when their teams get there arses kicked by other teams. To me that just says "Yeah? Let's see you play us when your athletic ability is hendered!" Makes no sense and sounds like whining.

That's what I was going to say about UK. They have the same weather that OSU has.

As far as weather is concerned, CFB isn't affected nearly as much as the NFL IMO. For the most part, the regular season is over by November in CFB. In the NFL, the regular season stretches through the end of December. That one month difference is huge as far as weather is concerned. Besides, C.Bus doesn't know what snow is. Head 150 miles North towards Lake Erie if you want real blizzard like conditions.

BTW, Did any of you see "The Snow Bowl" last year? AKA: Bills @ Browns (Dec. 16, 2007). That was awesome! Now, I'd love to see Pac-10 or SEC teams play in THOSE conditions!

Yes you are right. Anyone remember the coldest game in history, (counting windchill too). Chargers vs Bengals in the 1981 playoffs.

Many fans are familiar with the famous "Ice Bowl" of 1967, when the Packers hosted the Dallas Cowboys for the league championship. Game-time temperature was 13 below zero, with wind chills making it feel like 48 below. At least the Packers sent the frozen fans home happy, riding a late one-yard quarterback sneak by Bart Star to pull out the championship, 21-17.

That game still holds the record for coldest temperature, but not for wind chill. That mark was broken in January 1982 in Cincinnati, in a conference title game between the Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers. Swirling winds whipping off the Ohio River made it feel like 59 degrees below zero. San Diego coach Don Coryell, normally clad in short sleeves, bundled up on the sidelines with a ski mask that nearly covered his entire face. His southern California team got iced, 27-7.

Yikes! Shiver! Berrrrr....

That wind can be brutal sometimes off the Ohio River. I live in a town that is on it too.

I know what you mean. Cleveland Browns Stadium is built right next to the Lake up here. The combination of "Lake Effect" snow and the wind whipping off it can be bone cringing at times.

This is true, CLEVELAND gets much more snow than the rest of the state ...
Of course the Wisconsin boy's might have something to say about that.

btw, not ALL Buckeye games are played in Columbus, so I guess my comment about coming up to play in Columbus should have been, play in the Big Ten homes.

Those warm weather teams would crumble when they can't hang on to the ball in the cold weather.

Ah the Loser's Lament

If only we could play them in snow, rain, cold, ?

If only they didn't have superior athletes?

If only this ?

if only that?

The Florida/LSU teams of the past two season would torch OSU anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

Look other BCS conferences play good football also. The only notable exception being the Big Least.

For God's sake OSU has a quality program, one that their supporters could and should be proud of.

Just let the excuses go though. You've had your asses handed to you repeatedly when tangling with the SEC in Bowl games, playing them elsewhere is irrelevant and not going to change the game's outcome one bit.

I'm an SEC fan first and foremost but I also realize other Conferences play top notch football. Some years on par with the SEC. Most years though just a tick below.

The Buckeye program is one to be proud of and to be admired both in and out of the Big 10. Storied history, tradition, first rate facilities, that are befitting of the regal program that it represents. Michigan also fits the same category.

Excuses and apologists only serve to detract from the prestige of the Conference and programs. (JMO)

All BCS confereces sans the Big East have programs and traditions that contribute mightily to the Great Game of NCAA CFB.

I'm a huge Buckeye fan and I agree with this post...for the most part. I get the distinct feeling both Florida and LSU would have beaten OSU any time, any place.

I think as Buckeye fans we need to focus on what has gone right, not only what has gone wrong. Both Florida and LSU trounced us fair and square, but overall we have been the dominant program. Not only did Florida and LSU not make the national championship game two years in a row, neither one even made the SEC championship game two years in a row.

The poster is right, as soon as Ohio State beats an SEC team (or any team), we'll hear the loser's lament, complaining about everything from game location to scheduling to conferences.

The bottom line is, as Bill Parcells says...you are your record. And Ohio State's record since Jim Tressel took over is amazing.

And who cares what Carson Palmer says? Being a Bengal, he's jealous of a winning program that is not far from where he plays for a losing program.

David,
OSU is tired of playing for the NC in your HOME state too, lets play somewhere other that you home area.

The first MNC game was in Tempe, I believe, thats at least better.
Playing 50 minutes from home gives you a huge advantage, I don't care what anyone else thinks.

Good point. It seemed like the fans were divided up 50/50 the last two years, but I think it was easier on the SEC teams regarding travel, scheduling, logistics, etc. Not much we can do about that, but it is a factor.

It seemed like in Arizona it was about 2/3 Buckeye fans, perhaps people didn't want to travel so much from Miami to Tempe.
